Today, we continue to do the classics our way, inspiring not only how you shop but how you define your personal style. Our commitment runs deeper than just making great clothes—we’re proud of our role in getting you dressed with confidence, character, and celebrating a distinctly American sensibility that makes us who we are.

Our dedication to Diversity, Equity, Belonging & Sustainability has been celebrated with industry recognition, reflecting our commitment to fostering an inclusive and sustainable workplace.

The Role + Purpose:

The Director of Production leads the end-to-end operational, financial, and logistical execution of J.Crew’s e-commerce and creative brand imagery, translating creative vision and business objectives into seamless, high-quality productions. This role partners closely with Creative, Merchandising, and Marketing leaders to shape production strategies, drive operational excellence, and build scalable capabilities, processes, and best practices that support the evolving needs of the business. The Director fosters an inclusive, high-performing culture while cultivating best-in-class external partnerships and identifying innovative approaches and technologies that expand creative possibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead end-to-end production for e-commerce and creative photo shoots, from pre-production through final delivery, ensuring projects meet creative, operational, and business objectives.

  • Lead and develop internal teams while overseeing freelance crew, vendors, studios, locations, and production partners to ensure seamless and efficient execution.

  • Partner with Creative, Merchandising, Marketing, and cross-functional teams to translate creative vision and business priorities into effective production strategies and plans.

  • Own production budgets, timelines, resources, and priorities, ensuring work is delivered on time, within budget, and to brand standards.

  • Develop and implement scalable production processes, workflows, and best practices that improve efficiency, consistency, quality, and team effectiveness.

  • Identify and implement innovative solutions to complex production challenges, balancing creative ambition, operational feasibility, and financial considerations.

  • Build and maintain strong internal and external partnerships, fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing production environment.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • 10+ years of experience leading creative production, content production, e-commerce, fashion, brand production, studio operations, or related creative disciplines, with progressive leadership responsibility.

  • Proven experience developing and executing production strategies, processes, and operating models within complex, high-volume creative environments.

  • Deep knowledge of production planning, budgeting, scheduling, contracts, licensing and usage rights, vendor management, and production operations.

  • Demonstrated success leading and developing teams, with the ability to coach talent, foster collaboration, and build high-performing organizations.

  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external agencies, production companies, vendors, studios, and other production partners.

  • Strong business, financial, communication, negotiation, and influencing skills, with the ability to balance creative, operational, and financial priorities.

  • Deep understanding of e-commerce and creative content production, with a track record of delivering high-quality, on-brand work in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred:

  • Experience leading high-volume e-commerce and creative photo production within fashion, retail, lifestyle, or a consumer brand environment.

  • Experience working across e-commerce and editorial/creative content, with an understanding of the distinct production needs of each.

  • Experience building and scaling production capabilities, processes, and teams within a fast-paced, evolving organization.

  • Experience managing complex relationships with agencies, production companies, creators, technology partners, vendors, studios, and locations.

  • Experience with production management, scheduling, budgeting, and workflow technologies that support efficient production operations.

  • Four-year degree or equivalent experience.

We welcome you to apply, even if you don't check all the boxes. Our passion is scouting life-long learners who are driven by curiosity, and who feel connected to our brands and share our desire to make an impact. We’re always seeking bright new talent who leverage their unique experiences to discover, grow and evolve with our teams.

About Us

We make timeless clothes that last a lifetime…then pair them with of-the-moment styles season after season, decade after decade. We think that distinct heritage pairs perfectly with modern design and fabric technology. We believe in feel-good color… Even if black or navy makes you feel best, we’re here for that. We’re the experts in signature categories: cashmere, coats, blazers, pants—and we also collaborate with the coolest brands out there because we know that creativity is contagious. We consider leopard a neutral, speak stripes fluently and live for a great gingham. We believe in looking like a million bucks, not spending it—which is why we go the extra mile to source the absolute best fabrics at the most accessible prices. We also know that we have a responsibility to the planet and to humanity to choose eco-friendly fabrics and to support our factory workers, without compromise.
