ABOUT GMR MARKETING
We are the Experience Agency Making Unforgettable Stories Born of Humanity
NOT JUST EXPERIENTIAL. EXPERIENCE.
The lines have blurred. People live in the physical, digital, and social worlds all at once, and your brand experiences should do the same.
NOT JUST TELLING. MAKING.
The best stories are lived, not heard. Make an immersive world for people to explore so they can experience something they’ll never forget.
NOT JUST CONSUMERS. HUMANS.
It all starts with the human. If you want to make a lasting impact, look beyond the wallet to understand what motivates and inspires people.
As a Director of Event Production, you will play an important role in leading production teams and delivering exceptional live events, high-end hospitality experiences, and experiential programs across a diverse portfolio of clients. Working closely with internal teams and other agency partners, you will help bring ambitious ideas to life through thoughtful planning, strong production leadership, and seamless execution. You will provide senior oversight across multiple programs, develop and mentor producers, and lead complex or high-profile projects where your experience and judgment can make a difference. From fabrication and scenic production to audio, video, lighting, venue management, décor, furnishings, logistics, and live show execution, you will help teams navigate challenges, make informed decisions, and deliver experiences that balance creative vision, technical excellence, client expectations, and financial performance.
You will thrive in this role if you are a collaborative, solutions-oriented leader who enjoys developing people, building strong partnerships, and finding practical ways to bring creative ideas to life. You bring deep production knowledge, sound business judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities without losing sight of the details that make an experience successful. You are comfortable guiding producers, managing client and vendor relationships, overseeing budgets, and making confident decisions in fast-paced environments. You understand what it takes to produce elevated guest experiences, from the overall environment to the smallest finishing details, and take pride in helping teams deliver thoughtful, well-executed work. You are equally comfortable providing strategic direction and getting hands-on when a program calls for it, always looking for ways to strengthen the team, improve the process, and deliver meaningful value for clients, guests, and the agency.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Production Leadership & People Development. You have a proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop producers across multiple accounts and programs. You can establish clear expectations, manage workloads, assign resources, and provide actionable feedback that builds confidence and strengthens individual and team performance. You empower producers to take ownership, solve challenges independently, and deliver work to a high standard while providing senior oversight and guidance when needed.
- Portfolio & Financial Management. You have strong business and financial acumen, with the ability to oversee multiple programs and maintain visibility into scope, staffing, schedules, budgets, risks, and quality. You can develop scopes of work, production approaches, estimates, and detailed budgets for new and existing business. You understand forecasting, cost control, procurement, change management, and financial reconciliation, and can identify risks and opportunities to protect project margins and deliver against financial goals.
- Production Strategy, Planning & Execution. You bring extensive experience translating creative concepts into comprehensive, executable production plans. You understand how to develop and manage workback schedules, production timelines, staffing plans, and run-of-show documents. You can anticipate challenges, establish contingency plans, coordinate dependencies, and oversee every phase of production, from initial planning and site checks through installation, rehearsals, live execution, and strike. You balance strategic oversight with hands-on involvement to ensure seamless delivery.
- Fabrication, Technical Production & Experiential Design. You have a deep understanding of fabrication materials, construction methods, scenic production, and shop capabilities, along with audio, video, lighting, staging, and technical integration. You can evaluate production approaches, identify value-engineering opportunities, and guide teams toward solutions that preserve creative intent, quality, durability, and safe operation. You understand how to bring complex environments and live productions to life, including general sessions, awards shows, and large-scale experiential programs.
- Hospitality Environments & Guest Experience Production. You understand how to produce high-end hospitality experiences, VIP lounges, reception spaces, and premium guest environments where every detail matters. You can translate creative direction into thoughtful layouts, décor, furnishings, lighting, and finishes that meet elevated guest expectations. You have experience sourcing and managing rentals, purchases, and custom builds, including lounge seating, tables, rugs, florals, and decorative elements, while overseeing delivery, installation, styling, and removal. You partner effectively with hospitality and guest experience teams to ensure production plans support seamless service, guest flow, and memorable experiences.
- Vendor, Venue & Partner Management. You have a proven ability to source, evaluate, negotiate with, and manage vendors, venues, fabrication partners, technical teams, and freelance production resources. You establish clear scopes, expectations, and deliverables while balancing quality, reliability, cost, and client objectives. You understand procurement processes, including competitive bidding requirements, vendor onboarding, contracts, purchase orders, and payment coordination. You build trusted partnerships that strengthen production capabilities and support successful program delivery.
- Client Consulting, Communication & Collaboration. You are a confident, collaborative communicator who can build strong relationships with clients and internal stakeholders. You can serve as a senior production partner, lead conversations around budgets, feasibility, technical decisions, and production strategy, and navigate escalations with sound judgment. You work effectively across internal teams, bringing production expertise into early concept development, pitches, and strategic planning. You can translate complex production considerations into clear recommendations and actionable decisions.
- Live Show Production, Logistics & Problem-Solving. You have experience leading complex live event operations, including production routing, freight, asset tracking, crew movement, venue logistics, labor, permitting, and safety requirements. You can direct installations, load-in and load-out, rehearsals, backstage operations, and live show execution in partnership with show callers, stage managers, speakers, performers, and technical teams. You remain calm under pressure, make informed decisions in real time, and proactively resolve challenges to maintain show flow and deliver a seamless guest experience.
- Production Standards, Innovation & Continuous Improvement. You are passionate about elevating production quality, improving operational efficiency, and creating consistency across programs. You can establish and evolve production standards, tools, workflows, and resource management practices that help teams work smarter and deliver stronger results. You value post-event debriefs and use insights to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Technology, Adaptability & Global Mobility. You are proficient in Microsoft Office and have working knowledge of production drawings and tools such as CAD or Vectorworks. You are comfortable navigating complex production documents, budgets, schedules, and presentations. You are adaptable, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced agency environment. You are willing to travel and work flexible hours as client needs and production schedules require.
