Job Details
Job Summary:
The Director, Infusion Strategy leads end-to-end strategic engagements for Cencora’s health system customers: scoping ambiguous business problems, owning the analytics and financial modeling that underpin the recommendation, and presenting to C-suite decision makers. This is a strategy role rather than an operating role. The Director brings a top-tier management consulting toolkit — hypothesis-driven problem structuring, quantitative rigor, and executive communication — and partners with the team’s infusion subject matter experts, who supply the clinical, operational, and reimbursement depth. The Director is accountable for the integrated answer, for the quality of every deliverable, and for leading and developing the engagement team.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead the end-to-end execution of infusion strategy engagements: scope the problem, structure the workplan and issue tree, set the analytic approach, and own the quality, pace, and integrity of every deliverable.
- Own the financial modeling that underpins each engagement, including pro forma P&L and site-level economics, payer mix and reimbursement scenarios, capital and staffing requirements, and ROI, NPV, and breakeven analysis; build models from first principles and defend assumptions and sensitivities directly with customer finance leadership.
- Author executive-level presentations that carry a clear storyline from question to recommendation, synthesizing complex analysis into a small number of decision-ready implications for C-suite and board audiences.
- Direct the contribution of internal subject matter experts across RCM, data, clinical operations, and strategy, translating their domain input into a structured, defensible recommendation and integrating it into a single answer the Director owns.
- Lead customer meetings and working sessions with VP-, C-suite-, and board-level stakeholders; facilitate structured problem solving, surface and resolve disagreement in the room, and drive to decisions and committed next steps.
- Define the success metrics and Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) for each engagement, instrument them, and hold both the delivery team and the customer accountable against them.
- Manage, coach, and develop a team of consultants and analysts: set the standard for structured thinking, analytic rigor, and written communication; staff the work, review work product, give direct feedback, and build the bench.
- Design and run the analytics behind engagement performance, defining the measurement approach, interrogating the underlying data, and revising the strategy when the evidence moves.
- Maintain and defend an independent point of view on the alternate site infusion landscape, including regulatory, reimbursement, competitive, and capital-flow dynamics, and translate it into implications for customer strategy and for Cencora’s infusion solution positioning.
- Partner with the VP, Infusion and the Managing Director, Infusion on the client delivery model, the scoping and pricing of new engagements, and the strategic product roadmap for the infusion solution portfolio.
- Brief leadership on engagement progress, risks, and economics; recommend changes to approach, scope, or staffing, and make the case for them with evidence.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
- Must be willing to travel up to 25% to customer sites.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in business, economics, engineering, finance, or another quantitative discipline; MBA or comparable advanced degree from a top program strongly preferred. Requires a minimum of six (6) years — eight (8) or more preferred — of post-undergraduate experience at a top-tier management consulting firm, an elite boutique healthcare strategy practice, or an internal corporate strategy group held to the same standard, including at least two (2) years leading engagement teams at the Engagement Manager / Project Leader level or above. Candidates must demonstrate a track record of owning complex, ambiguous problems end to end, building the quantitative case themselves, and presenting recommendations directly to C-suite audiences. Healthcare provider, payer, pharmacy, or life sciences client exposure is strongly preferred. Deep infusion or pharmacy operating experience is not a requirement for this role; domain depth is supplied by the subject matter experts this role partners with.
MINIMUM SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
- Elite structured problem solving: able to take an ambiguous, undefined customer question, break it into a MECE issue tree, form testable hypotheses, and design the analysis that proves or kills them.
- Advanced financial modeling in Excel, built from scratch: pro forma and three-statement modeling, unit economics, scenario and sensitivity analysis, NPV and IRR, and disciplined documentation of assumptions.
- Quantitative and analytic fluency with large, imperfect healthcare datasets, including claims, 340B, EHR, dispensing, and financial data; working proficiency in SQL, Power BI or Tableau, or Python strongly preferred.
- Executive presence: credible and composed with C-suite and board audiences, able to deliver an unwelcome recommendation and hold it under challenge.
- Mastery of executive storylining and slide craft in PowerPoint: pyramid-principle structure, action titles, and one clear message per page, with no reliance on a design team.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams, including staffing engagements, coaching more junior professionals, reviewing work product, and raising the analytic standard of the people around them.
- Ability to form and defend an independent point of view on industry-wide trends — customer, regulatory, reimbursement, technology, and channel — and to connect those trends to concrete customer and Cencora implications.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication: writes with precision and concision, and leads with the conclusion before the supporting detail.
- Comfort operating with a high degree of autonomy and ambiguity in a growth business, with the judgment to know what to decide and what to escalate.
