The Role:
The Odom Corporation is seeking a Director of Financial Planning & Analysis to lead enterprise planning, forecasting, performance reporting, and operational finance.
This position will translate financial, commercial, and operating data into clear recommendations that help leaders improve growth, margin, productivity, and return on investment. The Director will lead the FP&A team, own the company’s consolidated planning processes, and serve as a strategic finance partner to executive, sales, and operating leadership. If you enjoy connecting complex data to practical business decisions and building strong planning and analytical capabilities, we would like to hear from you.
What You'll Do:
Planning, Forecasting & Performance Reporting
- Lead the annual budget, periodic forecasts, weekly estimates, long-range planning, and consolidated financial outlook
- Establish consistent assumptions, calendars, templates, and review routines across markets and business units
- Identify financial risks and opportunities and translate them into clear, actionable recommendations
- Improve forecast accuracy, analytical consistency, accountability, and planning speed
Operational & Cost Analytics
- Analyze warehouse, delivery, fleet, merchandising, labor, payroll, and operating costs
- Connect operating drivers such as cases, labor hours, routes, mileage, and productivity to financial outcomes
- Partner with operating leaders to explain variances, identify root causes, and quantify improvement opportunities
- Develop cost and profitability views that support service, network, investment, and resource-allocation decisions
Commercial & Margin Analytics
- Analyze revenue, gross margin, COGS, pricing, discounting, product mix, freight, supplier programs, and customer profitability
- Develop clear margin bridges across suppliers, brands, packages, channels, customers, and markets
- Partner with sales and commercial leaders on pricing, customer terms, supplier commitments, and margin improvement
- Evaluate whether programs and investments delivered the expected financial results
Strategic Decision Support
- Lead financial analysis for operating-model changes, technology investments, acquisitions, supplier transitions, and productivity initiatives
- Build decision-ready business cases with clear assumptions, cash flow, sensitivities, costs, benefits, and risks
- Track approved initiatives against savings, growth, timing, capital, and return commitments
- Present complex analysis as concise choices and recommendations for executive and operating leaders
Team Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop the FP&A team through clear ownership, feedback, cross-training, and development planning
- Establish consistent analytical methods, model governance, documentation, and quality standards
- Build a culture of curiosity, constructive challenge, business partnership, and accountability
What We're Looking For:
Required
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Progressive accounting leadership experience includes ownership of the monthly close, financial reporting, external audit, internal controls, and team leadership.
- Experience improving accounting processes, clarifying roles, and leading change in a multi-location, inventory-intensive, distribution, manufacturing, or consumer-products environment.
- Demonstrated command of U.S. GAAP and the ability to translate accounting requirements into practical business processes and controls
Preferred
- CPA license or active CPA credential
- Experience in beverage distribution, alcoholic-beverage distribution, Coca-Cola bottling or distribution, wholesale distribution, or a similarly regulated route-to-market business
- Experience with enterprise resource planning, warehouse or route-accounting systems, financial consolidations, and close-management or account-reconciliation tools
- Experience supporting acquisitions and financial systems implementations
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Advanced financial modeling, forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, cost analysis, and management-reporting capability
- Practical understanding of beverage economics, including cases, packages, supplier and brand mix, pricing, discounts, deposits, freight, rebates, depletion incentives, inventory, and route-to-market costs
- Ability to connect warehouse, fleet, labor, sales, and service drivers to gross profit, operating expense, working capital, cash flow, and EBITDA
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and data-analysis skills; strong capability with business-intelligence and enterprise planning tools
- Executive-level communication, presentation, and storytelling skills that convert complex data into clear choices and actions
- Proven ability to develop people, delegate ownership, manage competing priorities, and influence leaders without direct authority
- Strong judgment, intellectual curiosity, attention to detail, and willingness to challenge assumptions constructively
Why Join Odom?
- Build and shape an enterprise FP&A capability with meaningful executive visibility
- Influence strategic, commercial, and operating decisions across the company
- Work with complex, real-world data across sales, warehouse, delivery, fleet, labor, and finance
- Lead modernization of planning, analytics, and performance reporting
- Develop a high-impact team and create scalable analytical practices
- Join a stable, family-owned company with a long history of success
