Show job description

As an Educational Consultant within the Bid Team, you will draw on substantial school leadership experience to support Bromcom’s bid and pre-sales activities. You will help develop persuasive, accurate tender responses and support significant sales opportunities with schools, local authorities, multi-academy trusts (MATs) and other large educational organisations.

Bid work will take priority during major contract opportunities and busy periods. When bid work is less prominent, you will support colleagues across sales and marketing, product development and customer support, helping them understand school and trust requirements and helping customers get the best from Bromcom’s solutions.

A key part of the role involves developing a detailed, hands-on understanding of Bromcom’s products and delivering presentations and software demonstrations, remotely and at prospect or customer premises. You will also represent Bromcom at education technology exhibitions, events and conferences. Travel to prospect and customer sites, occasional overnight stays and attendance at Bromcom offices for key meetings form part of the role.

We are seeking a highly experienced current or former headteacher, principal or executive headteacher with at least five years’ substantive whole-school leadership responsibility in one or more UK state-funded schools. You will be able to demonstrate a sustained record of leadership impact and improvement. Experience within an academy or multi-academy trust is desirable, and leadership responsibility at trust level, particularly across several schools, would be a significant advantage.

Key Responsibilities

Bid and pre-sales support

  • Contribute to bid writing and tender responses, particularly during major contract opportunities and busy periods, improving the accuracy, relevance, clarity and persuasiveness of proposals through practical knowledge of school and trust priorities.

  • Present to senior decision-makers in schools, local authorities, multi-academy trusts (MATs) and other educational organisations, delivering tailored presentations and software demonstrations that reflect audience needs.

  • Represent Bromcom at education technology exhibitions, events and conferences, engaging with visitors, demonstrating solutions and speaking as an education subject matter expert.

  • Monitor competitor activity and provide relevant insights to strengthen bid and pre-sales work.

Support for colleagues and customers

  • Support sales, marketing, product development and customer support teams when bid work is less prominent, helping colleagues understand the practical educational and operational requirements of schools and trusts.

  • Help customers maximise the value of Bromcom's software by relating its functionality to their day-to-day responsibilities and priorities.

  • Keep up to date with developments in UK education and their implications for schools, trusts and Bromcom's solutions, with access to the National College provided.

Supplementary product development support

  • Participate in product development panels, using practical school leadership experience to champion the requirements of schools, academy trusts and their users.

  • Help identify and prioritise improvements to Bromcom's MIS and, where relevant, Finance solutions, providing feedback to product teams and assessing proposed developments against real educational and operational needs.

  • Occasionally undertake internal user acceptance testing (UAT) to validate usability and suitability for school and trust operations, identify issues and support the sign-off of release candidates before customer release.

  • Ensure school and trust perspectives inform product decisions, helping Bromcom develop solutions that support effective school management, informed decision-making, reduced administrative workload and improved operational efficiency.

Travel and workload management

  • Manage competing priorities flexibly, prioritising bid work during major opportunities and busy periods. Travel as required for meetings, demonstrations, customer visits, exhibitions and conferences, including occasional overnight stays, and attend Bromcom offices for key meetings.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • At least five years' experience as a headteacher, principal or executive headteacher, with substantive whole-school leadership responsibility in one or more UK state-funded schools.

  • A sustained record of leadership impact and improvement, supported by clear examples of personal decisions, actions and outcomes.

  • Exceptional written communication and verbal presentation skills in English, including the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and persuasively to senior decision-makers and varied audiences.

  • Meticulous attention to detail, a strong commitment to accuracy and quality, and regular experience of using a school Management Information System (MIS).

  • Ability and willingness to develop detailed, hands-on knowledge of Bromcom's products, demonstrate their use, help others use them effectively, translate school leadership and operational needs into practical product requirements, explain their value and constructively challenge proposed solutions.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, alongside strong literacy and numeracy skills.

  • Ability to manage workloads flexibly across bid writing, pre-sales and wider colleague and customer support, delivering high-quality work to tight deadlines.

Desirable Skills and Experience

The following would be advantageous:

  • Headship or senior leadership experience within an academy or multi-academy trust, particularly trust-level responsibility for educational performance, school improvement or operations across several schools. This would be a significant advantage.

  • Experience in a senior local authority role supporting education.

  • Experience of using Bromcom MIS or Finance solutions within a school or trust.

  • Experience as an Ofsted inspector and/or involvement in school improvement initiatives beyond your own school.

  • Familiarity with school or trust Financial Management Systems (FMS), including knowledge of school or trust budget planning.

  • Experience of using school or trust-wide data and reporting to inform improvement, oversight and strategic decision-making.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office.

  • Strong customer relationship management skills and experience of using Dynamics 365.

  • Technical writing skills.

Personal Attributes

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work constructively with colleagues and customers.

  • Proactive, organised and willing to take initiative, with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.

  • Adaptable and responsive to changing priorities, with a genuine commitment to helping schools and trusts improve their use of technology and a passion for improving education through technology.

Bromcom is an equal opportunities employer.
