Electrical Engineer - ECAD

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer with a strong background in electrical systems design, schematic development, and electrical CAD (ECAD) software.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and developing electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, control panels, and associated technical documentation for engineering and manufacturing projects.

This role offers the opportunity to work remotely from South Africa, collaborating with US-based engineering teams on electrical design and product development projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and electrical system layouts.
• Create and modify electrical designs using ECAD software.
• Develop wiring harness designs, cable routing layouts, and electrical connection diagrams.
• Design electrical panels and control cabinets, including component layouts.
• Select appropriate electrical components based on project specifications.
• Prepare and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and technical documentation.
• Review and update electrical drawings to meet engineering requirements.
• Collaborate remotely with US-based engineers and project teams to ensure designs meet technical specifications.
  

Required Technical Skills

ECAD Software:

• Experience with at least one electrical design platform, such as:
• SolidWorks Electrical
• Creo Schematics
• AutoCAD Electrical
• EPLAN
• Other relevant ECAD or electrical schematic design software

Core Engineering Skills:

• Electrical schematic design and development
• Wiring and wiring harness design
• Cable routing and electrical layouts
• Electrical panel and control cabinet design
• Electrical component selection
• Bill of Materials (BOM) creation
• Electrical drawings and technical documentation
  

Experience & Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree, BTech, National Diploma, or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Approximately 3–8 years of relevant experience in electrical engineering design.
• Practical experience using ECAD software for electrical systems design.
• Strong understanding of electrical drawings, schematics, and technical specifications.
• Good written and verbal English communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with international engineering teams.
  

Preferred Experience

• Experience working on electrical design projects within manufacturing, industrial automation, or product engineering environments.
• Familiarity with US engineering standards and electrical design requirements.
• Previous experience working with international engineering teams or remote clients.
