Embedded Engineer

We’re looking for an Embedded Linux / Python Engineer to join a product-focused engineering team developing software that interacts closely with hardware and real-world systems.

The role offers a hybrid working model, with the flexibility to work from home up to 2 days per week.

This is a hands-on position suited to someone who enjoys solving technical problems, working directly with customers and taking ownership of projects rather than simply developing against a fixed specification.

The Role

You’ll work across software, hardware and customer requirements, helping to define and develop solutions from an early stage.

We’re particularly interested in someone who can talk to customers, understand what they are trying to achieve and then use their technical experience to help shape the design and direction of the project.

What We’re Looking For

• Commercial experience developing on Embedded Linux or similar Linux-based platforms.
• Python development experience.
• Experience developing software that interfaces with hardware, electronics or physical products.
• Comfortable working directly with customers, gathering requirements and translating these into technical solutions.
• Able to take initiative and ownership of project design, particularly where the solution or requirements aren't fully defined.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

AI Experience

Experience using AI within a professional software development environment would be advantageous.

This could include:

• Developing or integrating AI/ML functionality into products.
• Using AI coding agents or AI-assisted development tools as part of day-to-day software engineering.
• Using AI to support coding, testing, debugging, documentation or development workflows.

You don't need to be an AI specialist. We're more interested in engineers who understand how modern AI tools can be used practically and effectively within software development.

The Person

We’re looking for a proactive, commercially minded engineer who enjoys working close to hardware and taking responsibility for solving real customer problems.

You'll ideally be comfortable taking an initial customer requirement, asking the right questions and helping determine how the solution should be designed and delivered, rather than waiting for a finished specification.
