Job Description As Energy Project Manager, you will lead technical delivery across a portfolio of hotel energy efficiency and decarbonization programs in BC. You'll work directly with hotel operators, ownership groups, and asset managers, guiding properties through assessment, long-term capital planning, and project implementation. This role sits at the intersection of technical advisory and program management. One day, you're on-site conducting an energy assessment. Next, you're facilitating a training session for hotel operators or presenting a business case to an ownership group. You need to be credible in both rooms. You'll work closely with industry and program partners. You are the primary GreenStep technical resource on the program, responsible for delivery quality, client relationships, partner coordination, and reporting. Duties & Responsibilities Conduct on-site ASHRAE Level 1 and Level 2 energy assessments at hotel properties, covering HVAC, lighting, building envelope, domestic hot water, and controls systems Collect and verify utility consumption data; set up and manage ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager benchmarking for client properties Develop long-term energy savings and emissions reduction plans; review all outputs for accuracy and operational relevance before client delivery Deliver plan review and coaching sessions with hotel property teams Develop decision-ready business cases for priority retrofit projects: technology sizing, preliminary cost estimates, incentive identification, financial modelling, and ROI analysis for ownership and asset management audiences Prepare and submit utility incentive program applications on behalf of clients; manage direct liaison with utility program contacts through to approval Plan and facilitate training sessions for hotel operators covering energy benchmarking, retrofit opportunities, utility incentive programs, and decarbonization pathways Develop sector case studies and present findings to industry audiences Facilitate peer learning groups for hotel facilities managers and operators; develop agendas, manage follow-up, and circulate session summaries Build and maintain client-facing resource materials, including technical guides and utility program references Support outreach and recruitment of new program participants in coordination with program partners Manage day-to-day program delivery across active client engagements, tracking milestones and flagging risks early Prepare and contribute to formal program reports for funders and partners, covering participation levels, project progress, energy savings, and GHG emissions reductions Participate in regular program coordination meetings with funders, industry partners, and internal GreenStep team members Maintain accurate project documentation, client records, and program data to support QA/QC review and reporting requirements Coordinate across program partners to ensure consistent delivery standards and timely issue resolution Share field insights and client feedback with GreenStep's internal team to support continuous improvement Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience Minimum 10 years of experience conducting ASHRAE Level 1 and Level 2 commercial building energy audits, with demonstrated independent delivery Proven hotel or hospitality-sector building experience: you understand how these buildings operate, how ownership structures work, and how capital decisions get made Proficiency with ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager: benchmarking, EUI interpretation, and using data to drive project prioritization Hands-on experience with BC utility demand-side management programs: you have prepared and submitted incentive applications and managed them through to approval. A track record of building retrofit business cases and getting them approved at the ownership or asset management level. Demonstrated ability to facilitate training sessions and workshops for mixed technical and non-technical audiences Strong written communication: client-ready reports, business cases, and presentations without heavy editing required Proven ability to manage multiple active client engagements simultaneously and meet program deadlines with minimal supervision Experience working within multi-partner program delivery structures, including funder reporting and partner coordination. Education Required A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, building science, or a related technical field is required. Certification Required A Certified Energy Manager (CEM) designation is required; candidates without an active CEM will not be considered P.Eng. registration (BC) is a strong asset Valid BC driver's license is required; access to a personal vehicle is required for regular on-site visits to client properties Work Location Vancouver, BC (hybrid — regular on-site travel to client properties required) Job Type 1-year contract, full-time (with intent to extend subject to program performance) Salary/Wage $70 - $85k per annum.
