Company Description The STEM Education Promotion Alliance (SEPA) is a not-for-profit social enterprise based in Vietnam, dedicated to expanding equitable and inclusive STEM education. SEPA designs culturally relevant curricula, trains teachers, and provides hands-on learning kits that help learners engage with science, technology, engineering, and math in meaningful ways. The organization focuses on empowering educators and students in rural and underserved communities, creating pathways to explore STEM subjects and future careers. SEPA’s initiatives include national robotics championships, STEM-for-girls programs, and sustainable innovation projects such as Biostick and Apistem, offering team members the chance to contribute to impactful, real-world solutions in education.

Role Description The Engineer role at SEPA is a full-time, hybrid position based in the Hanoi Capital Region, with flexibility for some work-from-home arrangements. In this role, the engineer collaborates with educators and program staff to design, develop, and refine STEM learning kits, robotics platforms, and engineering-focused educational tools. Day-to-day responsibilities include prototyping and testing hardware and software solutions, documenting technical specifications, and ensuring products are safe, durable, and suitable for classroom use. The engineer supports national competitions and STEM programs by maintaining equipment, troubleshooting technical issues, and providing technical guidance to teachers and students. The role also involves working with cross-functional teams to integrate sustainability, accessibility, and local context into engineering designs, while continuously improving processes and product performance.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on skills in robotics, electronics, or embedded systems, including basic circuit design, microcontrollers, and sensors.
  • Proficiency with engineering and design tools such as CAD software, basic simulation tools, or coding (e.g., C/C++, Python, or block-based programming for education).
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, practical learning materials suitable for students and educators.
  • Experience or strong interest in STEM education, outreach, or working with schools, teachers, or youth programs.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in cross-functional, multicultural teams and support non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving, organization, and documentation skills, with attention to safety, quality, and usability of engineering solutions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technology, or a closely related field; equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
  • Comfort working in a hybrid environment in the Hanoi Capital Region, including site visits to schools, competition venues, and partner organizations.
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn
