Engineering Experience Competency Assessors

Engineers and Geoscientists BC is looking for new volunteers to join our team of Engineering Experience Competency Assessors! Engineering Experience Competency Assessors have the unique opportunity to contribute to the regulation and governance of their profession by reviewing the experience and competency qualifications of applicants for the P.Eng. designation. This will assist in the fair and timely assessment of P.Eng. applications. The work that our volunteers do in this role can be completed remotely, typically takes one to two hours, and can be scheduled around other commitments (reviews do not need to be completed in one sitting). Requirements: Have at least three years as a registered professional engineer (in any jurisdiction) in your stated area of practice. What disciplines we most need: Civil, Structural, Electrical Why we need you: The profession of engineering is continuing to grow in BC and in turn, so are the number of applications we receive (we have experienced an increase of 40% in applications for P.Eng.). We need volunteer assessor to ensure the timely registration of our applicants. Each assessor is a highly valued volunteer who helps to maintain the integrity of the application process. What you do: Conduct a professional review of an candidate’s competency examples and qualifications through our Competency Assessment website. Provide honest and constructive feedback regarding the candidate's competency examples and qualifications. We look to ask you to review on average two applications per month. Advantages for you: A review can be completed remotely and typically takes one to two hours. You can schedule the review around your other commitments, and it does not need to be completed in one sitting. You may also earn CE (continuing education) hours. You will be provided with training modules and documentation to assist with your review.
