Role Description The Enterprise Systems Architect at Amazon Leo is a part-time, remote role focused on designing and evolving complex enterprise systems. In this role, the architect defines system architectures, creates high-level designs, and ensures alignment with business and technical strategies. Day-to-day responsibilities include collaborating with engineering teams, reviewing solution designs, guiding integration patterns, and documenting architectural standards and best practices. The architect conducts technical assessments, identifies risks, proposes mitigation strategies, and supports roadmap planning for systems modernization and scalability. This position also involves mentoring technical contributors, promoting architectural governance, and advocating for secure, reliable, and maintainable systems.
Qualifications
- Strong system architecture and systems design skills, with experience creating scalable, secure, and resilient enterprise solutions.
- Hands-on background in software development and systems engineering, including working with modern frameworks, APIs, and cloud platforms.
- Experience with system and application integration, including designing integration patterns, data flows, and interoperability between services.
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical architectures, produce clear documentation, and communicate complex concepts to diverse stakeholders.
- Experience with cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP), microservices, and distributed systems is highly beneficial.
- Familiarity with security, compliance, performance optimization, and reliability engineering in enterprise environments.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in a remote setting, manage part-time workload effectively, and collaborate across time zones.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
