Epic Professional Billing Analyst (Detention Center Project)

Position Overview

Our client is launching a strategic initiative to extend Epic EMR services to state detention centers throughout South Carolina. They are seeking an experienced Epic Professional Billing (PB) Analyst to support the implementation, optimization, and ongoing maintenance of Epic Professional Billing workflows across correctional healthcare environments.

This individual will play a key role in the full project lifecycle, including requirements gathering, workflow design, system build, testing, training support, go-live activities, and post-implementation optimization. The ideal candidate will possess strong Epic Professional Billing expertise and have experience supporting partner, affiliate, community connect, or detention/correctional healthcare environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead Epic Professional Billing design, build, testing, and implementation activities.
• Collaborate with operational, clinical, revenue cycle, and technical stakeholders to gather requirements and develop scalable solutions.
• Configure and maintain Epic PB workflows, charge capture, billing rules, claims processing, reimbursement methodologies, and revenue cycle functionality.
• Perform system analysis and recommend workflow improvements to optimize billing operations.
• Develop and execute unit testing, integrated testing, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
• Support go-live planning, activation, stabilization, and post-go-live optimization efforts.
• Troubleshoot application issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
• Create and maintain detailed system documentation, build specifications, workflow diagrams, and training materials.
• Provide day-to-day application support and ongoing maintenance activities.
• Partner with affiliate and partner organizations to ensure successful implementation and adoption of Epic workflows.
• Assist with change management, enhancement requests, upgrade activities, and system optimization initiatives.

Required Qualifications

• Epic Professional Billing (PB) Certification required.
• 5+ years of Epic application experience with a focus on Professional Billing.
• Experience supporting full lifecycle Epic implementations, including design, build, testing, and go-live support.
• Strong understanding of healthcare revenue cycle and professional billing workflows.
• Experience configuring and maintaining Epic PB build components.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience developing project documentation, workflow designs, and testing plans.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience supporting detention centers, correctional healthcare facilities, prisoner healthcare workflows, or justice-involved populations.
• Experience with Community Connect, affiliate, partner, or extension site implementations.
• Knowledge of correctional healthcare billing, registration, scheduling, security, and reimbursement workflows.
• Experience working with state agencies, public sector healthcare organizations, or large health systems.
• Additional Epic certifications are a plus.

Ideal Candidate

Epic Professional Billing analyst who can independently lead design and build efforts while serving as a trusted partner to operational and technical stakeholders. Candidates with prior experience implementing Epic within detention centers, correctional healthcare environments, or affiliate/community connect organizations will be highly preferred. This individual should possess exceptional communication skills, strong documentation abilities, and a proven track record of successful Epic implementations from planning through stabilization.

This is a Contract position based out of Charleston, SC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $85.00 - $95.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
