Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group (MAPMG) invites applications for an Executive Consultant, Regional Consulting and Innovation Practice to join our Office of Administration and Innovation. This position is a full-time opportunity based out of our regional office located in Washington, D.C., with a hybrid work model.
Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group is comprised of more than 1,700 Permanente physicians and nearly 300 staff professionals who come together to make a positive impact on the health and lives of more than 800,000 members in Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia.
The Executive Consultant will provide strategic advisory and project leadership in support of regional and cross-functional priorities, working closely with department leadership to advance key initiatives. In this role, the Executive Consultant will serve as a trusted thought partner to senior leaders by helping frame complex or undefined challenges, synthesize analysis, and translate insights into actionable, decision-ready recommendations. The Executive Consultant will lead regional strategic initiatives, support consulting practice infrastructure and governance, and build strong stakeholder partnerships that promote effective execution and sustainable outcomes. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable navigating ambiguity, driving transformation, leading complex initiatives, and translating insights into measurable organizational impact.
You can expect to:
- Serve as a strategic advisor and thought partner to senior executive leaders by helping structure complex issues, identify opportunities, clarify decision points, and develop actionable recommendations.
- Lead regional and cross-functional consulting engagements from intake and planning through implementation, adoption, closeout, and transition to operational ownership, ensuring recommendations translate into sustainable results.
- Partner with operational leaders and stakeholders to translate strategies into executable plans, support adoption, and drive measurable outcomes.
- Develop project approaches and work plans while monitoring progress, timelines, risks, dependencies, and outcomes.
- Design and enhance consulting practice infrastructure, including governance, prioritization processes, dashboards, standardized workflows, and closeout processes.
- Support transformation and innovation initiatives by identifying opportunities to improve organizational performance, evaluating new approaches, and helping scale successful practices across the region.
- Contribute to the ongoing evolution of the Regional Consulting and Innovation Practice through development of methodologies, tools, standards, and scalable approaches to consulting delivery.
- Analyze regional performance, emerging risks, and strategic opportunities to support executive decision-making and prioritization.
- Partner with analytics and operational teams to establish performance metrics, success measures, and impact indicators.
- Facilitate committees and task forces to support alignment, decision-making, and execution.
- Build trusted partnerships with internal leaders, Health Plan partners, and external stakeholders.
- Prepare executive-ready presentations, recommendations, and communications, and represent executive leadership within established parameters.
What is required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Health Care, Public Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience. Master’s degree preferred.
- Five to seven years of experience in consulting, operations, or project management, preferably within a healthcare setting.
- Demonstrated experience in strategic and operational analysis and planning, including problem framing and financial, policy, and market assessments.
- Demonstrated understanding of healthcare operations, clinical practice environments, or integrated care delivery.
- Experience designing and implementing governance frameworks, operating models, and standardized workflows that improve transparency, accountability, and strategic alignment.
- Strong strategic thinking and synthesis skills, including the ability to translate ambiguity into decision-ready recommendations.
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects and initiatives through completion while adapting to changing priorities.
- Proven ability to build cross-functional relationships and influence decisions across diverse stakeholders.
- Strong communication, analytical, facilitation, negotiation, problem-solving, change management, and consensus-building skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Familiarity with KP HealthConnect and project tracking or collaboration tools such as SharePoint, Teams, or Planner is preferred.
- Must be able to commute to Washington D.C., on an as needed basis.
- Candidates must either currently live in or be willing to relocate to the Washington D.C. metropolitan area
- Must provide documentation for the influenza vaccine as a condition of employment
Preferred qualifications:
- Management consulting and/or healthcare consulting experience.
- Experience applying quantitative and qualitative data analytics to inform recommendations and decision-making.
- Experience developing Microsoft 365-based solutions and workflows, including SharePoint, Lists, Power Automate, Teams, and Planner.
- Lean Six Sigma certification or demonstrated experience applying Lean, Lean Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Familiarity with Epic.
- Strong emotional intelligence and the ability to influence without authority, build trust, and navigate complex stakeholder environments.

The starting annual salary for this position ranges from $100,452.86 to $125,565.93, depending on circumstances including an applicant’s skills and qualifications, certain degrees and certifications, prior job experience, training, market data, and other relevant factors. In addition to the salary range above, MAPMG offers rich benefits that add substantial value to the total compensation package.
