Company Description Belderbos Solicitors – Family Law Specialists is a dedicated family law firm providing bespoke advice and support to clients across Rutland, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, and the wider East Midlands. The firm focuses on helping individuals and families navigate divorce, separation, cohabitation, prenuptial agreements, and other family matters with care and professionalism. Wherever possible, Belderbos Solicitors helps clients avoid court proceedings by using alternatives such as mediation, collaborative law, arbitration, and solicitor-led negotiation. Founded by James Belderbos, an experienced lawyer of over 27 years, the firm prioritizes peace of mind, amicable resolution, and cost-effective, low-stress solutions. Clients are at the heart of the practice, and the team is committed to delivering clear, practical guidance tailored to each person’s circumstances.

Role Description This full-time Family Law Solicitor role is a hybrid position based in the Greater Leicester Area, with some flexibility to work from home. The solicitor will manage a caseload of family law matters, including divorce, separation, financial settlements, child arrangements, cohabitation issues, and prenuptial agreements. Day-to-day responsibilities include advising clients on their legal options, drafting and reviewing legal documents, negotiating settlements, and representing clients in proceedings where court involvement is necessary. The role involves engaging in and promoting alternative dispute resolution methods such as mediation, collaborative law, and arbitration to support amicable outcomes. The solicitor will also liaise with other professionals, maintain accurate file records, ensure compliance with regulatory and professional standards, and contribute to the firm’s reputation for high-quality, client-focused service.

Qualifications

  • Qualified solicitor with a current practicing certificate in England and Wales, with demonstrable experience in family law.
  • Strong knowledge of divorce, separation, financial remedies, child arrangements, cohabitation, and prenuptial agreements, including relevant legislation and case law.
  • Proven skills in client care, including the ability to provide empathetic, practical, and clear advice in emotionally sensitive situations.
  • Experience in negotiation and dispute resolution, ideally including exposure to mediation, collaborative law, or arbitration processes.
  • Excellent drafting and written communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear, accurate letters, agreements, statements, and court documents.
  • Effective time management, organization, and caseload management abilities, with attention to detail and strong professional judgment.
  • Comfort with hybrid working arrangements, including the ability to work independently, use legal and case management software, and maintain confidentiality remotely.
  • Commitment to ethical practice, professional integrity, and ongoing legal education; membership of Resolution or similar professional bodies is an advantage.
