Field Service Manager

Your Mission

At HOERBIGER UK, you will lead our Field Service operation, bringing together people, technical expertise and customer focus to deliver safe, reliable and commercially successful service projects.
You will take ownership of the planning and execution of field service activities across customer locations, while developing a high-performing team of three direct reports. Combining engineering knowledge with strong leadership, you will help customers improve the reliability and performance of reciprocating compressors and other rotating equipment.

How you will make a difference

  • Lead and develop a high-performing Field Service team, creating an environment where people can grow while consistently delivering excellent service to our customers.
  • Take ownership of field service projects from planning through completion, coordinating resources, schedules and equipment to deliver safely, on time and with the right commercial outcome.
  • Be a trusted technical partner for our customers, helping solve challenging mechanical and process issues involving reciprocating compressors and other rotating equipment, both on-site and offshore.
  • Drive safety, quality and continuous improvement, ensuring our operations meet relevant HSE, QSHE, ISO, ATEX and customer requirements while identifying opportunities to improve service quality, maintenance practices and customer satisfaction.
  • Connect customers with the wider HOERBIGER organisation, collaborating closely with Sales, Engineering, Purchasing, Production, suppliers and partners while supporting quotations, service opportunities and performance contracts.

What you should be good at

  • You bring substantial experience with rotating equipment, ideally reciprocating compressors, industrial gas or diesel engines, pumps or comparable machinery, together with strong mechanical and process troubleshooting skills. Around ten years of relevant maintenance experience are desirable.
  • You are an experienced people leader in field service or an industrial service environment, able to recruit, coach and develop technical specialists and build a strong team culture.
  • You know how to manage complex service projects and competing priorities, from mobilisation and scheduling through cost estimation, execution, reporting and customer follow-up.
  • You have a strong understanding of industrial HSE and quality standards, ideally complemented by experience with Reliability Centred Maintenance, maintenance optimisation and relevant safety certification. An engineering or scientific degree is preferred.
  • You communicate confidently with customers, technicians, management and external partners. You are comfortable using tools such as Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project and SAP or comparable ERP systems, can work in English and the local language, and hold a full UK driving licence.

What you can look forward to

  • A leadership role with real ownership, including responsibility for people, operational priorities, service interventions and resource allocation.
  • Meaningful technical challenges where your experience with compressors and rotating equipment directly helps customers improve reliability, maintenance and performance.
  • A hybrid way of working, combining an office base with up to two remote-working days per week and customer/site activities.
  • A collaborative environment, working across Field Service, Sales, Engineering, Purchasing and Production as well as with customers, suppliers and specialist partners.
  • The opportunity to shape and improve Field Service, from team capabilities and working practices to maintenance strategies, service quality and customer solutions.
  • Variety and customer visibility, combining leadership, technical problem-solving, project management and customer engagement, with approximately 20% travel within the UK and Ireland.
  • Interaction with peers across the HOERBIGER European Field Service network
