About 350.org
350's mission is to keep carbon in our atmosphere at a safe level, below 350 parts per million. We do this by mobilizing ordinary people to campaign for universal access to clean energy and an end to fossil fuels. Our campaigns are rooted in local organizing, so that while achieving measurable reductions in fossil fuel emissions, we also build the power and potential of the climate movement for yet more impact to come. The values that guide and drive our work are listed here.
350.org is an equal opportunity employer. 350.org strives to be an inclusive and collaborative group of people who bring a variety of approaches to the work we do. We’re committed to the principles of justice, and we try to build a safe workplace where everyone is treated fairly and enjoys working together. We value new perspectives, ideas of all sorts, and different ways of working. Diverse perspectives and experiences improve the way 350.org carries out our work – including what we decide to work on and how creatively/effectively we do that. We do our best to make staff positions accessible to all potential team members, regardless of race, national origin, ethnicity, age, disability, assigned gender, gender expression or identity, sexual orientation or identity, religion or creed, veteran status, marital or parental status, and genetic information. We also strive to include team members in communities most impacted by climate change or impacted by other kinds of environmental, social, and economic injustice.
About the Finance & Administrative Officer, Brazil
The Finance & Administrative Officer is responsible for the day-to-day financial management of the 350 Brasil entity, including donor funds received in Brazil, local accounting and compliance, and timely financial reporting. Working autonomously, the role also leads contract and administrative management and provides support on HR routines. This role works closely with the Brazil team and the global finance team to keep the entity's books accurate, audit-ready, and fully compliant with Brazilian requirements and organizational policies.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Finance:
- Lead the day-to-day financial and budget management of 350 Brasil, including bank accounts, payments, receipts, cash flow, and monthly bank reconciliations.
- Process payments to suppliers and service providers, reimbursements, and resource requests (e.g., via Concur), in line with organizational policies.
- Maintain accurate books in 350’s accounting system and serve as the main contact for the external accounting firm: provide monthly documentation, answer their questions, and review the reports they prepare.
- Track donor and grant funds, including restricted funds, making sure spending is documented and consistent with approved budgets and grant requirements.
- Prepare monthly financial reports, budget-to-actual reports and cash-flow information for donors, the Country Manager, and U.S. consolidation.
- Support month-end closing with the global finance team. This includes the monthly trial balance and supporting schedules, and reconciling intercompany transactions between 350 Brasil and 350.org.
- Build and monitor budgets for proposals and new projects.
- Coordinate tax and statutory accounting compliance with external advisors. Keep documentation audit-ready for annual audits and donor reporting.
- Identify and promptly escalate financial risks, discrepancies, or compliance issues.
Administration & Legal Compliance:
- Manage the full contract cycle with suppliers and service providers: drafting and reviewing, negotiating terms, tracking renewals and expiry dates, and keeping a contract register.
- Run procurement and quotation processes in line with 350’s procurement policy and donor requirements.
- Keep 350 Brasil’s corporate and legal registrations and filings up to date, such as CNPJ, statutory filings, powers of attorney, and digital certificates. Support the Country Manager in meeting the entity’s administrative and legal obligations.
- Organize and safeguard physical and digital records so they are complete, accessible, and audit-ready.
- Coordinate logistics for events, meetings and team travel, including bookings and the related expense documentation.
Payroll & Human Resources:
- Liaise with 350 Brasil’s external payroll provider. Send monthly payroll inputs (new hires, leave, vacation, terminations, salary changes) and review payroll before approval.
- Support ensuring compliance with Brazilian labor and social security obligations, working with the payroll provider and external advisors.
- Support administering local benefits, such as health insurance and meal/food vouchers. This includes enrollments, changes, and follow-up with providers.
- Support coordination of Brazil-specific onboarding and offboarding steps, such as employment contracts, registration, admission and dismissal medical exams, benefits enrollment, and termination paperwork.
- Support local recruitment where Portuguese or Brazilian knowledge is needed, and liaise with the global HR team on Brazil-specific matters.
- Support other tasks outside standard responsibilities when organizational needs require it.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
- 5+ years of accounting/finance experience; nonprofit or grant experience preferred.
- Knowledge of Brazilian accounting and tax requirements.
- Basic understanding of Brazilian labor law
- Strong Excel/Google Sheets and accounting-system skills.
- Fluency in Portuguese and English.
- Close attention to detail, integrity, and ability to work closely with 350’s global finance team.
- Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently in a remote, international team.
- Comfort and ease working in a fast-paced and resource-constrained environment.
Desired (but not required) skills and experiences:
- Experience running recruitment and onboarding processes.
- Familiarity with payroll and benefits routines.
- Experience in a nonprofit or international organization managing donor/grant funds.
Location: Remote, within Brazil. Preference will be given to candidates based in Rio de Janeiro and the surrounding area, but candidates based in São Paulo will also be considered.

Status: Full-time (36 hours per week), Consultancy contract
Consultancy Fee: BRL 224,712.36 per year
