Description

This role provides financial planning and analysis support to the Australian business, with a focus on business performance, portfolio insight and management reporting. Reporting to the Head of Finance, Australia, the Analyst will work with Finance, underwriting and operational stakeholders to translate financial and insurance data into clear, actionable insight for decision-making.

The role is suited to an analytically minded finance professional with FP&A experience and insurance industry knowledge, particularly across Broker and Coverholder business. Experience in the Lloyd’s of London insurance market would be highly advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support annual planning, budgeting and forecasting, including preparation and maintenance of financial models and assumptions.

  • Prepare monthly management reporting and commentary on actual performance against plan, forecast and prior periods.

  • Analyse premium, claims, commission, expenses and other key performance drivers, identifying trends, risks and opportunities.

  • Partner with underwriting and operational teams to understand performance, challenge assumptions and support commercial decision-making.

  • Develop clear dashboards, reports and presentations for local management and wider Finance stakeholders.

  • Support scenario analysis, business cases and other ad hoc commercial analysis.

  • Analyse performance across brokers, coverholders, classes of business and portfolios, ensuring reporting is accurate and relevant.

  • Support monitoring of distribution performance, pipeline, renewals and emerging portfolio trends.

  • Assist with reconciliation and interpretation of insurance data across policy administration, finance and reporting systems.

  • Monitor premium receivables and broker or Coverholder account positions, prioritising material and ageing balances for resolution.

  • Support reconciliation and allocation of premium receipts, payments and open transactions, including investigation of exceptions and legacy items.

  • Prepare reporting on outstanding balances, collection progress, cash visibility and emerging financial risks for management review.
  • Support month-end close, management accounts, audit and internal or external reporting requirements.

  • Identify opportunities to improve controls, data quality, reporting and finance process automation.

  • Use AI-enabled tools to improve FP&A processes, including reporting automation, data analysis, forecasting support, scenario modelling and the production of actionable management insights.
  • Support the Head of Finance, Australia and the wider Finance team with other priority activities as required.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Have experience in financial planning and analysis, management reporting, commercial finance or a similar analytical finance role.

  • Have insurance industry experience, including an understanding of broker and coverholder business models and related financial flows.

  • Ideally have experience in the Lloyd’s of London insurance market or knowledge of Lloyd’s business and operations.

  • Demonstrate strong financial modelling, budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis capability.

  • Be able to analyse complex financial and operational data and communicate the key messages clearly to senior stakeholders.

  • Have experience with premium receivables, cash allocation, reconciliations, broker account management or related insurance finance processes.

  • Have advanced Microsoft Excel skills; experience with Databricks, Power BI or other data visualisation tools would be advantageous.

  • Have experience using AI-enabled tools to enhance FP&A activities, including data analysis, forecasting, reporting automation, scenario modelling and the preparation of clear management insights.
  • Have experience with insurance policy administration and finance systems; knowledge of Subscribe would be advantageous.

  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail, sound judgement and a commitment to data quality and effective financial control.

  • Be collaborative, proactive and commercially minded, with the ability to manage competing priorities.

  • Hold a tertiary qualification in accounting, finance, commerce, economics or a related discipline; CA, CPA, CIMA or equivalent study would be advantageous.
