Contract: 12-month fixed-term contract
Hours: 30 hours per week, ideally Tuesday–Friday, 9:00am–5:30pm

What will I be doing?
Are you a numbers person with a keen eye for detail and a real knack for Excel? Do you enjoy solving problems, working with data and helping things run smoothly behind the scenes?
We’re looking for a Finance Assistant (Revenue) to join our friendly finance team at Travel Chapter on a 12-month fixed term contract.
This is a great opportunity to become part of a small, collaborative team supporting our holiday letting business. You’ll play an important role in ensuring payments are processed accurately, financial information is kept up to date and our homeowners receive an excellent service.
Excel will be pivotal to this role, so we’re looking for someone who is confident working with spreadsheets, enjoys getting to the bottom of discrepancies and can use their analytical skills to find practical solutions.
Your role
As our Finance Assistant, your main responsibilities will include:
Processing weekly and monthly payment runs to holiday homeowners through our booking reservation platforms, ensuring payments and deductions, including housekeeping charges, are accurately recorded.
Using Microsoft Excel extensively to analyse data, investigate discrepancies, identify errors and support accurate financial reporting.
Processing and recording refunds, ensuring all transactions are handled accurately and efficiently.
Responding to homeowner queries professionally and promptly, providing helpful support by telephone and in writing.
Investigating and resolving payment and reconciliation issues, using your initiative to identify the cause and find a solution.
Supporting colleagues across the business with finance-related tasks, systems queries and training where needed.
Building positive relationships across the group and delivering a high standard of service.
Assisting with year-end audit preparation by compiling, checking and organising financial information in line with instructions.
No two days will be exactly the same, so you’ll need to be comfortable managing different priorities, learning new systems and taking a practical, solutions-focused approach.
What you'll bring
We’re looking for someone with a strong interest in finance, excellent attention to detail and the confidence to work with numbers and data. You don’t need to tick every box, but we’d love to hear from you if you have most of the following:
Strong Microsoft Excel skills – you’re confident working with spreadsheets, manipulating data, using formulas and investigating discrepancies. Excel is a key part of this role, and an Excel skills assessment will form part of the recruitment process.
Experience working in a finance team, accounts department or similar administrative role.
Strong numeracy and literacy skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
A logical, analytical approach and the ability to investigate problems, identify errors and work out how to resolve them.
Good IT skills and the confidence to learn new systems, including computerised accounting packages.
Experience of finance tasks such as payment processing, refunds and balance sheet reconciliations.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a professional and customer-focused approach.
The ability to manage your workload, use your initiative and work collaboratively with colleagues.
A genuine interest in finance and a willingness to develop your skills.
It would be an advantage if you hold, or are working towards, an industry-recognised accounting qualification, such as AAT or an equivalent qualification.
Above all, we’re looking for someone who enjoys working with
