About Us
Rolls‑Royce SMR is here to transform how nuclear energy is delivered—cleaner, faster and at global scale. Our teams are developing one of the world’s most advanced small modular reactors, helping secure affordable, low‑carbon energy for generations to come.
We’re doing something that’s never been done before. We’re revolutionising an industry. That’s a once-in-a-career opportunity for those excited by such a challenge. This is more than just a job; this is a legacy.
Role Purpose
This role plays a vital role in supporting reliable financial operations, smooth transactional processes, high-quality data and responsive support for colleagues as the organisation continues to scale. We are looking for a hands-on finance transactions and process improvement professional to support day-to-day finance operations (25%) while helping improve the systems, controls and processes that underpin them (75%). The role will support as back-up accounts payable, cash management, master data, expenses and transactional reporting activity, while mainly contributing to SAP S/4HANA, Concur, ARIBA, automation, migration, testing and continuous improvement initiatives across the wider finance environment.
What we’ll need you to do
- Support to the Systems accountant acting as a bridge between finance users, process owners and IT teams by supporting functional testing, defect management, troubleshooting and issue resolution.
- Contribute to training, guidance and knowledge-sharing for new processes, system changes and finance transactional best practice.
- Review and document current processes, from an admin point of view.
- Review and document training for standard users.
- Contribute to SAP S/4HANA improvement activity, including master data migration, user acceptance testing, cutover support, go-live preparation and post-go-live stabilisation.
- Identify process inefficiencies, conduct root cause analysis and recommend practical solutions that simplify processes, strengthen controls and improve service delivery.
- Support creation and analysis of transaction reports to support month-end activity, audit requirements, performance monitoring, KPIs and continuous improvement decisions.
- Support to the Systems Accountant with managing and communicating with internal and external stakeholders, shared service teams and third-party providers to resolve complex queries and maintain strong operational performance.
Confidence can sometimes hold us back from applying for a job. But we'll let you in on a secret: there's no such thing as a 'perfect' candidate. If you feel you meet 75% of the requirements for this role, we would love to hear from you.
Also, if you are considering a career move or a sector-jump, please get in touch, we welcome applications from people with transferable skills.
What we’re looking for
- Mandatory SAP finance experience, ideally in SAP S/4HANA, accounts payable, P2P, master data, migration, testing or production support.
- Experience supporting transactional transformation projects, system changes, automation initiatives or process improvement activity.
- Ability to analyse data, identify trends, investigate root causes and produce clear reporting to support operational and management decisions.
- Collaborative approach with the ability to work effectively across finance, IT, shared service teams and business stakeholders.
- Strong experience in, expenses or wider finance transactions administration. (preferably SAP/HANA, Concur)
- Strong Excel skills and confidence working with finance systems, transactional data and reporting outputs.
- Experience working in high-volume transactional environments, shared services or multinational finance teams.
Location & Ways of Working
This role can be based in Derby, Manchester or Warrington, with flexibility to work between home and the office depending on business needs. There may be some international travel required on an ad hoc basis.
