ABOUT RFNOW

At RFNOW, we believe where you live shouldn’t decide how connected you are. From our home base in Virden, Manitoba, we build and run the fiber network that brings fast, dependable internet to rural and small-town communities — the farms, families, schools and local businesses that larger providers too often pass by.

We’re growing, investing in major network builds, and doing it with a down-to-earth team that rolls up its sleeves and takes real pride in the difference we make. Every connection we light up opens new doors for the people in those communities — and our Finance team is at the centre of making those investments happen.

RFNOW. Canada’s Prairie Fiber Network. 🍁 Come help us power what’s next for rural Canada.

THE OPPORTUNITY

This part-time, remote student role puts you right inside our Finance & Governance team. You’ll report to our Corporate Controller and take on hands-on projects for her team, our FP&A Capital Allocation group, our Project Governance lead and Accounting Operations.

You won’t be filing papers in a corner. You’ll test systems we’re rolling out, validate the data behind our reporting, help us meet tax obligations, and bring order (and maybe a little AI) to work that’s still done by hand.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

▪ Enter and maintain customer or transaction information in business systems, checking records for completeness and accuracy

▪ Review operational records, organize supporting documentation, and maintain spreadsheets used to calculate and support indirect tax obligations

▪ Process routine inventory transactions, maintain accurate records, and support reconciliations and inventory control activities

▪ Review and organize electronic records using a consistent folder structure and naming conventions to improve accessibility, accuracy and document control

▪ Assist with documenting and updating finance and administrative policies, procedures and process guides in line with regulatory requirements and generally accepted practices

▪ Collect, organize and validate supplier information used in sustainability and financial reporting, and follow up on missing or incomplete data

▪ Validate management reporting data against prior-period results and supporting records, investigate variances, and document findings

▪ Perform year-over-year testing of financial account structures, identify inconsistencies, and support the accuracy of financial reporting

▪ Assist with testing finance processes and systems, including purchasing, accounts payable, expenses and inventory, and document results and follow-up items

▪ Compare financial information across systems, reconcile differences, and support data accuracy and consistency

WHAT YOU BRING

▪ Currently enrolled in, or recently completed, a post-secondary program in accounting, finance, business or a related field

▪ Interest in using AI tools to automate manual work

▪ Excel skills and comfort learning new business systems

▪ Sharp attention to detail — you notice when numbers don’t match

▪ Organized and self-directed, comfortable working remotely and managing your own time

▪ Clear, professional communication

WHY YOU’LL LIKE IT HERE

▪ Real projects with visible impact — not busywork

▪ Work directly with senior finance leaders and see how a growing company’s Finance team runs

▪ Remote, part-time hours that work around your studies

▪ Practical experience that strengthens your resume and your path toward a CPA

▪ Work that matters — keeping rural and small-town communities connected
