About the Role:

We’re looking for a Finance Manager – NBFI to lead financial management, reporting, planning, controls, and regulatory finance activities for Axis’s non-bank financial institution operations.

In this role, you will oversee financial accounting, management reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, regulatory reporting, audit coordination, and financial controls. You will work closely with Finance, Risk, Compliance, Operations, Treasury, Product, and business leaders to ensure accurate financial information, sound governance, and effective decision-making.

This role combines technical accounting, financial analysis, regulatory compliance, business partnering, and process improvement in a fast-paced fintech and digital payments environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the finance function for Axis’s non-bank financial institution operations and ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial management.

  • Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, provisions, and account reviews.

  • Prepare management accounts, financial statements, financial analysis, and performance reporting for senior leadership.

  • Develop and manage annual budgets, rolling forecasts, financial models, and long-term business plans.

  • Monitor revenue, expenses, margins, operating costs, liquidity, working capital, and key financial performance indicators.

  • Prepare and review regulatory reports, returns, schedules, and financial information required by relevant authorities and regulators.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, regulatory requirements, tax obligations, internal policies, and finance controls.

  • Support the preparation of financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards and local regulatory requirements.

  • Oversee cash flow forecasting, liquidity monitoring, bank reconciliations, payment controls, and treasury-related activities.

  • Establish, document, and improve financial policies, procedures, accounting processes, and internal control frameworks.

  • Monitor transaction settlement, wallet balances, customer funds, merchant funds, partner payables, receivables, and other operational finance activities.

  • Partner with Risk, Compliance, and Operations teams to identify financial, operational, liquidity, fraud, and regulatory risks.

  • Provide financial analysis and business insights to support product launches, pricing decisions, cost optimization, and strategic initiatives.

  • Coordinate internal and external audits, respond to audit requests, and track remediation of audit findings.

  • Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, banking partners, regulators, and other finance stakeholders.

  • Review financial data, reconciliations, reports, and supporting documentation to ensure completeness, accuracy, and integrity.

  • Support tax compliance, tax filings, withholding tax, VAT, corporate tax, and other applicable finance and regulatory requirements.

  • Lead and develop finance team members while promoting accountability, accuracy, continuous improvement, and strong financial discipline.

  • Identify opportunities to automate reporting, improve financial systems, streamline reconciliations, and enhance finance processes.

  • Prepare clear financial presentations, dashboards, and recommendations for leadership and relevant governance committees.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in finance, accounting, financial reporting, financial control, or a related field, with experience in an NBFI, fintech, payments, banking, or financial services environment.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related discipline.

  • Professional accounting qualification such as CPA, ACCA, CMA, ACA, or equivalent is preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of financial accounting, management reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial controls.

  • Experience with regulatory reporting and financial compliance requirements for non-bank financial institutions or financial services companies.

  • Strong understanding of accounting standards, audit processes, tax requirements, and internal control principles.

  • Experience preparing and reviewing financial statements, management accounts, financial models, and performance reports.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including financial modeling, reconciliations, reporting, and data analysis.

  • Experience working with ERP systems, accounting software, finance platforms, and business intelligence or reporting tools.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail and data accuracy.

  • Ability to explain complex financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders and senior leadership.

  • Strong organization and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

  • High level of integrity, sound judgment, confidentiality, and professional accountability.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, evolving fintech environment.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in fintech, digital payments, mobile wallets, lending, consumer finance, banking, or other non-bank financial institutions.

  • Experience supporting licensing, regulatory examinations, regulatory audits, or compliance reporting for financial services businesses.

  • Knowledge of customer funds, safeguarding requirements, payment settlement, merchant acquiring, wallet reconciliation, or payment service operations.

  • Experience with financial planning and analysis, unit economics, cost management, profitability analysis, and scenario modeling.

  • Experience with finance transformation, process automation, ERP implementation, or financial reporting system improvements.

  • Familiarity with accounting and finance systems such as Oracle, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite, Odoo, or similar platforms.

  • Experience building dashboards and reports using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or similar platforms.

  • Experience managing and developing finance professionals in a growing organization.

  • Knowledge of financial crime controls, anti-money laundering requirements, fraud monitoring, and risk-based financial controls.
