Financial Accountant

Richard Nolan Civil Engineering is seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to join our Finance Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for financial reporting, management accounts, payroll oversight, tax compliance and supporting the financial operations of the company.

Key Responsibilities

• Financial Accounting: Maintain the nominal ledger, prepare monthly journals and balance sheet reconciliations, and review creditors and debtors.
• Management Accounts: Prepare monthly management accounts, cash flow reports, variance analysis and reports for the Board of Directors.
• Work in Progress (WIP): Review and reconcile monthly WIP balances and project costs.
• Payroll: Oversee weekly payroll, maintain reconciliations, manage BIK and provide payroll cover when required.
• Tax Compliance: Prepare and submit VAT, RTD, RCT and payroll returns, and assist with Corporation Tax returns.
• Year-End Accounts: Prepare audit files and liaise with external auditors.
• Financial Systems: Liaise with external IT and software providers and ensure financial records comply with Irish regulatory requirements.

Qualifications & Experience

• Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent).
• Minimum 3 years' relevant experience in financial accounting.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and financial software skills.
• Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent attention to detail and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
• Previous experience in construction or civil engineering would be an advantage.
