About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Financial Credit Supervisor to lead a team of credit representatives, strengthen credit and collections processes, and support accurate financial reporting. This role combines hands-on account management with team leadership, accounting responsibilities, and process improvement. This position will help improve cash collections, reduce customer deductions, manage credit risk, and guide the team through a new enterprise resource planning (ERP) system implementation.

This is a full-time, hybrid position based at our corporate headquarters in Glen Allen, Virginia.

Salary Range: $76,790.00 - $93,245.00 Annually

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of credit representatives responsible for portfolio management, deductions, and credit reviews.
  • Drive system optimization, process improvements, and best practices across credit and collections operations.
  • Oversee major customer accounts to support timely collections, resolve deductions, reduce penalties, and improve accounts receivable aging.
  • Manage a smaller customer portfolio, including establishing credit limits, collecting past-due balances, reconciling customer statements, and resolving deductions.
  • Create and monitor action plans and performance measures that support the company’s financial goals.
  • Review credit risk and make informed decisions regarding credit limits, order releases, deductions, and account exposure within established authority levels.
  • Complete accounting and month-end close activities, including calculating the bad debt reserve, reviewing aging, reconciling the accounts receivable subledger to the general ledger, and preparing reserve account reconciliations.
  • Ensure internal controls are completed on time, properly documented, and aligned with company requirements.
  • Communicate performance updates and potential risks to senior leadership.
  • Partner with Accounting, Sales, Customer Operations, Logistics, Distribution, Internal Audit, Information Technology, banking partners, auditors, and customers.
  • Support special projects related to the ERP implementation, electronic transactions, audits, compliance, and operational improvements.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 3+ years of credit management experience.
  • Strong accounting and accounts receivable knowledge, including general ledger reconciliations and bad debt reserve analysis.
  • Experience managing collections and resolving deductions for distributor and retail customer accounts.
  • Ability to analyze business financial statements and financial ratios, evaluate creditworthiness, and manage risk through tools such as secured lending and credit insurance.
  • General knowledge of credit and collection laws, credit documentation, settlement agreements, bankruptcy matters, and preference actions.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to use Microsoft 365 tools effectively.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve sensitive customer issues while preserving working relationships.
  • A practical approach to change, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities while learning new systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA, CBA, CCE, CICP, MBA, or other relevant credentials.
  • Knowledge of EDI and electronic payment transactions.
