Show job description

At Heathrow, every journey begins with insight. As a Forecasting Analyst within our Traffic & Market Insights team, you’ll play a pivotal role in keeping the wider business informed and supporting operational, financial and strategic decisions through accurate, data-driven tactical and medium-term forecasts. The team translates complex market trends, airline schedules and passenger behaviours into actionable intelligence that informs planning, investment and operational performance.

You’ll work closely with colleagues across Finance, Strategy, Operations, Business Development and Customer Insights, ensuring Heathrow’s forecasts reflect the latest airline schedules, market dynamics, passenger trends and wider external factors. Your analysis will help the business understand the drivers of traffic performance and outlook, supporting operational planning, financial forecasting, capacity decisions and strategic and regulatory activity.

  • Developing, maintaining and delivering robust tactical and medium-term forecasts across passengers, aircraft movements, transfers, baggage and cargo, using statistical models and market intelligence.
  • Analysing macroeconomic, airline, and travel industry trends to assess their impact on Heathrow’s performance.
  • Collaborating with Finance, Strategy, Operations, Business Development and Customer Insights teams to align forecasts with business planning and performance targets.
  • Producing clear, insightful reports and presentations that communicate complex data to non-technical audiences.
  • Producing regular and ad-hoc traffic, market and forecasting insight for senior management and wider internal and external stakeholders, including Executive-level reporting, regulatory submissions, monthly reporting and weekly traffic updates.
  • Supporting scenario analysis and sensitivity testing to inform strategic and regulatory submissions.
  • Continuously improving forecasting methodologies and tools to enhance accuracy and transparency.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with experience in data modelling and forecasting techniques.
  • Experience working with large and complex datasets from multiple sources, applying appropriate validation and quality assurance to deliver accurate and reliable outputs.
  • Practical experience using Power BI and data visualisation tools, proficiency in SQL and at least one analytical programming language such as Python or R, together with strong Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical curiosity, with the ability to look beyond headline numbers, understand the underlying drivers of traffic performance and forecast change, and communicate complex insights clearly to varied audiences.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high quality, reliable outputs.
  • Experience working collaboratively across teams and managing multiple priorities.
