QMG Language Services is a multilingual language services company based in Indianapolis, Indiana. We help businesses, healthcare providers, legal professionals, and other organizations communicate effectively with people who speak different languages.

We are building a network of qualified freelance interpreters and translators to support current and future client assignments.

Position Overview

We are seeking qualified freelance interpreters and translators who are proficient in one or more of the following languages:

• Spanish
• English
• French
• Haitian Creole
• Burmese
• Hakha Chin
• Portuguese

Candidates may apply for interpreting, translation, or both, depending on their qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities

Interpreting

• Interpret conversations accurately and impartially between English speakers and speakers of another language.
• Facilitate communication in healthcare, legal, business, manufacturing, warehouse, and other professional settings, as assigned.
• Maintain confidentiality and follow professional interpreting ethics.
• Preserve the meaning, tone, and intent of the original communication.
• Request clarification when necessary rather than guessing or omitting information.

Translation

• Translate written documents accurately while preserving meaning, terminology, and tone.
• Review and proofread translated materials for accuracy, grammar, and consistency.
• Meet agreed deadlines and follow client-specific formatting requirements.
• Maintain confidentiality when handling documents and client information.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in English and at least one of the listed target languages.
• Strong listening, speaking, reading, or writing skills relevant to the services offered.
• Previous interpreting or translation experience preferred.
• Professionalism, reliability, attention to detail, and cultural awareness.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with applicable professional standards.
• Relevant training, certifications, or specialized industry experience are an advantage.

Applicants must accurately represent their language proficiency and professional qualifications. Healthcare, legal, or other specialized assignments may require additional credentials or experience.

Compensation and Work Arrangements

• Freelance, assignment-based opportunities.
• Compensation negotiated based on language pair, service type, qualifications, assignment complexity, and client requirements.
• Assignments offered according to client demand; work volume is not guaranteed.
• Independent contractors are responsible for their own applicable taxes and business expenses.
