Freelance PL/SQL Developer - Hybrid - Long Term


We are looking for an experienced PL/SQL Developer to join a major IT transformation programme, supporting the modernisation and enhancement of business-critical database applications.


Responsibilities


  • Develop, enhance and maintain complex PL/SQL code, including stored procedures, packages, functions and triggers.
  • Work extensively with Oracle databases, supporting database development, data processing and application integration.
  • Analyse and optimise SQL/PL/SQL queries to improve database and application performance.
  • Develop Python scripts for automation, data processing, validation and integration activities.
  • Support the transformation of legacy database applications and processes into more modern, scalable solutions.
  • Work with large datasets, including data extraction, transformation, cleansing and migration.
  • Troubleshoot complex database, application and performance issues.
  • Support system integrations and data flows between Oracle and surrounding applications.
  • Work closely with developers, DBAs, architects and business stakeholders throughout the transformation programme.


Experience


  • Strong commercial development experience with Oracle PL/SQL.
  • Excellent knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
  • Hands-on experience with Oracle Database environments.
  • Good development/scripting experience with Python.
  • Experience with database performance tuning and query optimisation.
  • Understanding of data migration, ETL and system integration.
  • Experience working with complex or business-critical applications.
  • Previous experience within a transformation, modernisation or migration programme would be highly desirable.
