NeatDevs LLC is a small federal subcontractor with a long-running seat on a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) program in Ashburn, VA. We are hiring a mid-level Full Stack Developer to build modern web applications in React and Angular backed by Java Spring Boot microservices and PostgreSQL on AWS, on an Agile team modernizing mission-critical CBP systems. U.S. citizenship is required (federal contract); you must be able to obtain a DHS/CBP Public Trust - an active or recent clearance shortens your start date but is not a gate. Hybrid: on-site in Ashburn, VA about one day per week, remote the rest.
What you'll do
- Build features end to end: React/Angular front ends, Java Spring Boot services, PostgreSQL data models
- Develop and integrate RESTful APIs securely
- Turn mockups into responsive, Section 508-accessible user interfaces
- Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, demos, and retrospectives
- Use AI-assisted development tools (Gemini CLI) under the team's review standards
Required
- U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a DHS/CBP Public Trust; must live in the DC/MD/VA area
- Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Computer Science or related field
- 5+ years of professional full stack development experience
- React and/or Angular plus Java back-end development
- SQL databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle, or MySQL) and REST API experience
Nice to have
- AWS, Docker/Kubernetes, GitLab CI/CD
- AI-assisted development exposure (Gemini, Copilot)
- Federal or DHS program experience
Pay and benefits
$135,000 - $156,000 per year depending on experience and clearance status. Full-time W-2 role with health, dental, and vision insurance, life insurance, 401(k), paid time off, and paid federal holidays.
