Senior Full Stack Developer (AI-Assisted)

NeatDevs LLC is a small federal subcontractor with a long-running seat on a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) program in Ashburn, VA. We are hiring a Senior Full Stack Developer to build modern web applications in React and Angular backed by Java Spring Boot microservices, PostgreSQL, and AWS - writing production code daily while coordinating the team's work and leading its adoption of AI-assisted development with Gemini CLI. U.S. citizenship is required (federal contract); you must be able to obtain a DHS/CBP Public Trust - an active or recent clearance shortens your start date but is not a gate. Hybrid: on-site in Ashburn, VA about one day per week, remote the rest.

What you'll do

• Design, build, and deploy features end to end: React/Angular front ends, Java Spring Boot microservices, PostgreSQL on AWS
• Plan and coordinate full stack development work: technical approach, task breakdown, estimates
• Lead design discussions and code reviews; set engineering standards; mentor developers
• Turn mockups into responsive, Section 508-accessible UIs integrated with RESTful microservices
• Lead AI-assisted development practices: Gemini CLI for code generation, refactoring and testing, with team standards for human review of AI-generated code

Required

• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a DHS/CBP Public Trust; must live in the DC/MD/VA area
• Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Computer Science or related field
• 7+ years of professional full stack development experience
• Modern React (hooks, state management) and modern Angular (standalone components, signals, Material)
• Java Spring Boot microservices, PostgreSQL, RESTful API design
• AWS deployment experience; Docker/Kubernetes a plus

Nice to have

• Daily AI-assisted development experience (Gemini CLI, Copilot, or similar)
• MCP (Model Context Protocol) integration experience a strong plus
• GitLab CI/CD, Harness; DHS/CBP program experience

Pay and benefits

$172,000 - $198,000 per year depending on experience and clearance status. Full-time W-2 role with health, dental, and vision insurance, life insurance, 401(k), paid time off, and paid federal holidays.
