Functional Data / Technical Analyst (Freelance)

I’m currently looking for a Functional Data / Technical Analyst to join a major organisation in Belgium on a long-term freelance assignment.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced analyst who enjoys working across business, functional and technical domains, helping shape solutions in a complex and evolving IT environment.

Location: Belgium (hybrid working)

Contract Details

• Freelance assignment
• Full-time engagement
• Initial contract until approximately Summer 2027
• Strong likelihood of extension
• Start date: ASAP

The Role:

As part of the Corporate IT team, you'll support multiple projects, taking ownership of analysis activities from requirements gathering through to solution design and transition into support.

You'll work closely with business stakeholders, developers, infrastructure teams, database administrators and integration specialists to deliver robust and sustainable solutions.

What I'm Looking For:

• 5-10 years of experience as a Business Analyst, Functional Analyst or Technical Analyst
• Strong experience in requirements elicitation, analysis and lifecycle management
• Ability to create functional and technical designs for end-to-end solutions
• Good understanding of databases, SQL and system integrations
• Knowledge of IAM concepts, ideally within Azure environments
• Solid understanding of project delivery methodologies and the Software Development Lifecycle
• Experience supporting the transition from project delivery into operational support
• Strong documentation skills, including requirements documents, solution designs, manuals and runbooks
• Ability to work autonomously and bring structure to complex environments
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
• French or Dutch highly desirable (English required)
• Pragmatic, solution-oriented mindset

Nice to Have:

• Experience within the public sector or a similar environment
• Azure DevOps knowledge
• Experience with Liferay

Typical Responsibilities:

• Analyse and document business and technical requirements
• Design conceptual and logical data models
• Support the implementation and configuration of information systems
• Coordinate with integration and database teams on solution delivery
• Support data migration activities from legacy systems
• Improve system performance through testing, troubleshooting and optimisation
• Contribute to solution design and architecture discussions
