Are you passionate about financial markets, currencies and the forces shaping the global economy? Nordea Markets’ Research & Risk Solutions team is looking for an FX Strategist to form clear market views and translate them into actionable insights for our clients, working alongside some of the most respected economists and strategists in the Nordic region.
About our team
Research & Risk Solutions supports Nordea’s corporate and institutional clients through research, risk advisory and structuring across currencies and interest rates. As a leading capital markets operator in the Nordics, we're expanding the team and looking for someone ready to make an immediate impact. You'll be based at the heart of Nordea's trading floor in Helsinki, working in a fast-paced environment with colleagues at the top of their field.
As an FX Strategist, you will play a central role in shaping Nordea’s FX views through fundamental and data-driven research, macroeconomic analysis and close dialogue with clients and colleagues. Your work will feed directly into our market outlook and forecasting process, helping clients and colleagues across the Nordic region understand market developments and make informed decisions.
What you’ll be doing:
- Analyse the macroeconomic and market drivers of currencies, including monetary policy, interest rates, geopolitics, market sentiment and positioning
- Take responsibility for selected FX forecasts and contribute to Nordea’s broader house views and strategic market outlook
- Write timely, high-quality research that turns complex market developments into clear views and actionable insights
- Translate our market views into relevant implications for clients’ FX exposures, hedging decisions and broader risk management
- Present market views through client meetings, calls and webinars
- Collaborate closely with economists, strategists, sales and trading, while taking meaningful ownership of your work from day one
For the right candidate, this role comes with a genuinely unusual mandate: significant freedom to shape our offering and engage directly with clients from week one.
Collaboration. Ownership. Passion. Courage. These are the values that guide us in how we work and how we make decisions – and that we imagine you share with us.
Who you are
This is the right role for you if you have:
- A deep interest in financial markets and macroeconomics, with expertise in currency markets
- Intellectual curiosity, a proactive mindset and the commercial instinct to identify what matters to clients
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in both Finnish and English
- The ability to combine analytical rigour with sound judgement and a clear understanding of client relevance
- A collaborative working style and the ability to build trusted relationships with clients and colleagues
Your background and skills include:
- A relevant university degree, for example in economics, finance, mathematics or engineering
- Around 3–5 years of relevant experience in market strategy, research, economics, treasury, sales, trading, asset management or a related financial markets role
- Strong technical and quantitative skills, with an interest in using data, modelling, AI and modern analytical tools to generate better market insights. Experience with Python is an advantage
- Knowledge of FX and interest rate products and client-facing experience are considered advantage
We expect AI and automation to reshape both market analysis and the way research is produced and delivered to clients. We therefore value the curiosity and ability to apply new tools, develop analytical processes and help shape this transition.
