GIS/CAD Technician (Maternity cover)

THIS IS A FIX TERM CONTRACT FOR A MATERNITY COVER Purpose of Role: The GIS (geographic information system) is our tool for capturing, managing, analzing, and displaying information about our fibre network and allowing us to report on this geographically referenced information. The GIS team are primarily responsible for the data entry and data management with the GIS tool. Job Responsibilties: Data capturing of telecommunications network within an Intergraph GIS system, responsibilities include: Data gathering from various sources (internal database systems, xls, vsd, ppt, doc, dwg, hardcopies) Data consolidation, verification and clarification. Interpreting and understanding various network drawings and documents Populating network detail within GIS Modifying and updating of data within the system Data preparation in AutoCAD. Assisting with the load of data into GIS Supporting the Infrastructure design function Data analyses, map layout designs and map preparation Experience Required: Technical thinking (orientation in technical drawings and in tabular overviews) Knowledge of AutoCAD and GIS principles is an advantage Telecom’s infrastructure experience is an advantage Fluent written and spoken English Person Specification: Team player Flexible and adaptable Attention to detail Good communication skills Self Starter requiring minimum supervision Our working environment Here at EXA, we believe the future includes everyone, we are open to all applications to create an environment and culture that includes one and all.
