Job Title: Golang (Go) Backend Engineer

Salary: N600,000 - N 1,200,000

Work mode: Remote (Contract)

Our client is seeking a skilled Golang Developer for an E-hailing platform to design, build, and maintain high-performance, concurrent distributed systems and cloud-native applications. In this role, you will write scalable, robust, and maintainable Go packages and microservices, translating complex software requirements into highly resilient backend systems. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to make key architectural decisions, optimize database performance, and ensure our infrastructure scales effortlessly.

Responsibilities

Code Development: Write clean, efficient, testable, and maintainable code using the Go programming language.

System Architecture: Design and implement highly concurrent, distributed microservice architectures utilizing Go paradigms, constructs, idioms, goroutines, and channel patterns.

API Design: Build, secure, and maintain robust RESTful APIs and high-performance gRPC services.

Database Management: Integrate and optimize SQL (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases, writing complex and efficient queries.

Testing & Quality Assurance: Implement thorough unit and integration testing workflows to ensure code reliability and system requirements are met.

DevOps & Observability: Containerize applications using Docker and Kubernetes, and implement monitoring/observability tools like Prometheus or OpenTelemetry.

Requirements

5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with strong backend development experience(Golang)

Strong experience designing and building distributed systems and scalable backend applications

Experience working within e-hailing/rideshare backend is an added advantage

Strong understanding of relational database design, indexing, query optimisation, and performance tuning

Concurrency Mastery: Deep understanding of Go's concurrency primitives, including goroutines, channels, and mutexes.

Web Frameworks: Proficiency with popular Go web frameworks and routers (e.g., Gin, Fiber, Echo, Gorilla Mux, or Revel).

Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs and working with service-oriented or microservices architectures

Strong understanding of software engineering principles, system design, and data structures

Experience working with cloud infrastructure and modern development/deployment practices

Strong problem-solving and debugging skills

Experience with automated testing, CI/CD, and production software development

Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced engineering environment
