Show job description

Cadent is an AI engineering and governance firm in Moreton Bay. We're hiring two graduates into our Graduate Program 26/27, across a technical and a business track.

You'll spend a month each in AI engineering, delivery and growth, with a named host in each team. You'll finish able to do supervised work in all three, using AI tools by default.

You have a degree, or are in the final year of one.

Technical track

On this track most of your work is technical: building or extending an internal tool, writing the technical sections of a client deliverable, running a client demo with a senior engineer and drafting technical proposal sections.

Degree field: computer science, IT, software engineering, data science or a related field. You can program, know how LLM-based systems are built, use version control and can explain a project decision by decision.

Business track

On this track most of your work is with clients and prospects: drafting client status reports, leading a client meeting agenda item, preparing discovery calls and proposal sections, and writing test cases for a client AI system.

Degree field: any discipline. You enjoy meeting and learning from people, and a full day of it wouldn't drain you.

Both tracks: interest in AI, a social conscience, clear communication.

  • Part-time, one day a week.
  • 13-week fixed-term contract. If it goes well, we may offer an ongoing role, depending on your work and business conditions. Cadent team members make the final hiring decision.
  • Pay: $33.71 an hour plus super.
  • Remote until January 2027, then some office days in Moreton Bay, not every week.
  • Starts Monday 7 December 2026, pauses 25 December to 15 January, and ends in late March 2027.

How to apply: applications close Thursday 19 November 2026. Email careers@cadent.com.au with "Technical track" or "Business track" in the subject, your CV and three answers of up to 250 words each:

  1. What have you made with an AI tool, and how did you check that what it produced was right?
  2. Which AI system, in use today or proposed, could harm a group of people? Who would it harm, how, and what would you change to prevent it?
  3. Technical track: What is one decision you made in a technical project, which options did you reject, and why?
  4. Business track: When has dealing with customers or the public taken up most of your day, and what did you like and dislike about it?

You can use AI tools as long as you tell us how you used them in your response. If you need an adjustment to apply or interview, for example more time or a different format, tell us in your email.
