- Lead the next evolution of NZ Post's enterprise data capability, building on a strong platform and high-performing team
- Shape how data, information management and AI enable better decisions, innovation and commercial value
- Hybrid working based in either Auckland (Highbrook) or Wellington (CBD)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced data leader to join NZ Post as our Head of Data. Following an internal promotion, we're looking for someone who can build on the significant progress already made and lead the next phase of our data journey. This isn't a turnaround role. The foundations are in place, the team is thriving, and now it's about evolving our capability, unlocking greater value from our data assets, and scaling the use of modern data and AI technologies across the organisation.
Reporting to the General Manager Data & Enterprise Architecture, you'll lead a talented team across data engineering, governance, architecture, information management and platform operations. You'll oversee our enterprise data ecosystem, drive our information governance agenda, optimise our data platforms, and partner with leaders across NZ Post to ensure data and AI capabilities support both current priorities and future opportunities.
You'll Do That By
- Leading and evolving NZ Post's enterprise data strategy, platforms and operating model
- Driving the adoption and responsible use of data and AI capabilities across the business
- Overseeing information management, governance and compliance obligations
- Optimising platform performance, value delivery and cost efficiency across the data estate
- Partnering with business leaders to develop impactful data products, services and insights
- Leading, coaching and developing a high-performing team of experienced data professionals
As an experienced data and analytics leader, you'll bring the credibility, commercial judgement and strategic perspective to operate at a senior enterprise level. With at least 10 years' experience across data, analytics, data platforms, architecture or information management, you're ready to step into a role with broad accountability, significant influence and the opportunity to shape what's next. You'll combine an enterprise mindset with the ability to balance strategic thinking and delivery, confidently influencing outcomes across business, technology and executive stakeholders.
Success in this position doesn't require you to be the deepest technical expert in the room. Instead, you'll have a strong understanding of modern data platforms, an ability to connect strategy with practical outcomes, and the confidence to engage effectively with both technical specialists and senior business leaders.
Equally important is your ability to bring people together, create clarity and enable others to succeed. Commercially astute and highly collaborative, you'll know how to balance technology, people and business priorities to deliver meaningful results.
You'll Also Bring
- Extensive experience leading data, analytics or data platform teams in complex organisations
- A strong understanding of modern data ecosystems including platforms such as Snowflake, Power BI and cloud-based technologies
- Experience delivering data transformation, platform modernisation or legacy simplification initiatives
- Strong stakeholder leadership skills and the ability to influence at executive level
- Commercial acumen, including experience managing budgets, value delivery and platform optimisation
- A track record of building, leading and developing high-performing teams
