Lead diagnostics strategy. Shape testing pathways. Help precision medicine reach the patients who need it.

At AstraZeneca, we’re pushing the boundaries of science to transform outcomes for people living with cancer. We are proud to have one of the broadest and deepest Oncology pipelines in the business, working towards our ambitions with entrepreneurial thinking and innovation.

We’re looking for a Head of Diagnostics ANZ to lead our Diagnostics function across Australia and New Zealand, shaping companion diagnostic strategy and helping address the barriers that can stand between scientific innovation, diagnostic testing and the right treatment for patients.

The Head of Diagnostics ANZ will build and lead a high-performing diagnostics function that turns scientific and field insight into measurable improvements in companion-testing adoption, quality and accessibility, while embedding diagnostics into oncology strategy, launch readiness and execution.

What you’ll do

In this leadership role, you’ll:

  • Lead, coach and develop our Diagnostics Manager team, setting clear priorities and building specialist capability.
  • Shape and execute diagnostic strategy, translating field and customer insights into actions that strengthen companion diagnostic adoption.
  • Embed diagnostics into Oncology strategy and launch planning, working across brands and franchises.
  • Build strategic partnerships across diagnostic companies, laboratory networks, pathologists, healthcare professionals and other stakeholders across the testing ecosystem.
  • Identify and address barriers across diagnostic pathways, with a focus on testing adoption, quality and accessibility.
  • Work cross-functionally across Medical, Market Access, Regulatory, Marketing and Sales, connecting diagnostic priorities with broader business strategy.

What you’ll bring:
We’re looking for someone who can combine diagnostic expertise with strategic and people leadership.

Essential

  • Significant experience within diagnostics, pharmaceuticals or the broader precision medicine ecosystem, with demonstrated expertise in diagnostic strategy, partnerships or testing pathways.
  • Proven experience leading and developing an in-field team.
  • Strong knowledge of diagnostic customers and market dynamics.
  • Demonstrated experience developing strategy and business plans and turning priorities into execution.
  • Strong cross-functional leadership, communication, influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Business and budget management capability.

Desirable

  • Experience in Oncology, precision medicine or companion diagnostics.
  • Launch or launch-readiness experience.
  • Advanced qualification such as a PhD, MD or MBA.
  • Experience developing business cases and influencing senior internal and external stakeholders.
