Hey! We're Huel, and we're pleased to meet you 👋
Our culture thrives on high performance, and we set the bar high for new Hueligans who join us.
We invite you to read the advert below for our new Head of EMEA Quality & Food Safety position to understand the role, and explore our 7 Huel values before applying to ensure we have the right working environment for you!
The role
Food Safety and Quality sit at the heart of everything we do, and we’re now looking for a Head of EMEA Quality & Food Safety to take ownership of these areas and drive our EMEA QFS agenda. As Head of EMEA Quality & Food Safety, you’ll be accountable for driving our EMEA QFS strategic plan across a complex, international manufacturing base. You’ll play a critical role in protecting our brand and our customers, while enabling Huel to scale safely across the region.
This role will be based at our HQ in Tring, UK, with regular travel to co-manufacturing partners across the UK & EU and occasionally Japan and other EMEA regions as we grow. Here is an insight into your day-to-day:
Lead our EMEA Quality & Food Safety (QFS) function, taking overall accountability for food safety and quality across all Huel products and sites, including raw materials and co-manufacturing (RTD, Powders, Bars, Hot & Savoury and other categories).
Lead, coach and develop a high-performing EMEA team across three direct reports and their teams, providing clear direction, building capability and ensuring strong ownership across each function.
Define and drive our EMEA QFS strategy, delivering 'right first time' products and an outstanding consumer experience, while setting CPMU reduction targets and driving continuous improvement across all sites.
Ensure compliance with EMEA food safety regulations and standards (BRC, FSSC 22000, SEDEX etc.), owning and continually improving our Food Safety & Quality Management Systems (HACCP, VACCP, TACCP and GFSI standards).
Oversee our EMEA raw material suppliers and co-manufacturers, ensuring ingredients and products are safe, compliant and consistently meet Huel's standards, while building strong partnerships and a resilient supply network.
Own the EMEA-wide co-manufacturing performance strategy, setting clear governance, KPIs and accountability across all categories and sites to drive improvements in quality, consistency and CPMU.
Lead regulatory and food safety risk assessments across the UK, EU and wider EMEA region, including heavy metals, pesticide residues and other contaminants, translating legislation and findings into effective risk-management and compliance actions.
Take ownership of our end-to-end testing agenda for ingredients and finished products, ensuring timely analysis, monitoring trends and driving investigations and corrective actions where needed.
Be the key escalation point for EMEA food safety incidents and quality crises, leading decisive responses, clear stakeholder communication and escalation to the Technical Director and SLT when required.
Work closely with Product Supply, our Milton Keynes factory team and Regulatory & Compliance to strengthen manufacturing controls, support regulatory initiatives (including DRS, PPWR and market registrations), and champion a culture of food safety and continuous improvement across Huel.

A brilliant people leader who knows how to build, develop and inspire multi-disciplinary technical teams, providing clear direction and structure while empowering autonomy across three direct report functions.
Strong technical knowledge of EMEA food law, ingredients, nutrition and manufacturing processes, with the curiosity and foresight to spot emerging risks and opportunities across the region.
Hands-on experience working with products similar to Huel's range, including powders and dry ingredient mixes, RTD/aseptic bottling, canning, bars and Hot & Savoury, within an EMEA manufacturing environment.
A confident communicator and natural relationship builder who can influence and collaborate across NPD, Supply Chain, Logistics, Procurement and Commercial/Marketing teams, while representing Huel credibly with regulators, accreditation bodies and co-manufacturing partners.
