Head of Payments

Role Description

This full-time Head of Payments role at InnovaPlay is a hybrid position based in Msida, with flexibility for part-time work from home.

The Head of Payments will oversee the end-to-end payments strategy, including card processing, alternative payment methods, and payment system integrations to ensure secure, efficient, and compliant transaction for our customers.

Responsibilities include managing relationships with payment service providers, banks, and card schemes, monitoring payment performance, optimizing authorization and settlement rates, and reducing payment-related costs and risks.

The role will collaborate closely with product, finance, risk, and compliance stakeholders, and drive continuous improvement in payment flows, reporting, and customer experience. The Head of Payments will also stay informed on regulatory changes and industry trends and translate them into actionable plans for InnovaPlay.

Qualifications

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
• Proven experience in payment services, including managing relationships with PSPs, acquirers, and banking partners.
• In-depth knowledge of payment card processing, card scheme rules, and fraud/risk considerations.
• Solid understanding of finance and payment systems, including settlement, reconciliation, and transaction lifecycle.
• Experience leading or managing payments or financial operations teams in a tech, gaming, or e-commerce environment.
• Familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements related to payments (e.g., PSD2, AML, KYC, PCI-DSS).
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and negotiation skills, with an ability to work cross-functionally.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize and execute in a fast-paced environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Computer Science, or a related field; advanced degree or certifications in payments or fintech are an advantage.
• Comfort working in a hybrid setup, demonstrating autonomy, accountability, and collaboration both on-site in Msida and remotely.
