ZOVU · Fully remote · Equity only · No salary
We're looking for the person who will own ZOVU's product design: the workflows, the interface and the day-to-day design work. You'll work directly with the founder and developers, create designs yourself, and help other designers deliver consistent work. You'll own design execution and standards within agreed product priorities.
About ZOVU
Restaurant teams often work across disconnected tools for orders, bookings and everyday operations. ZOVU is building one operating system that brings these workflows together.
Our aim is to make complex restaurant software feel calm, clear and easy to use. Your job is to turn that direction into practical screens and experiences for restaurant owners, staff and their guests.
What you'll own
- The product experience. Turn complex requirements into clear workflows, from the main task to permissions, errors and exceptions.
- The interface. Personally create wireframes, prototypes and polished screens. Develop ZOVU's visual language through careful typography, spacing, hierarchy and consistent interactions.
- The design system. Build and maintain reusable Figma components and patterns so the team can produce consistent work efficiently.
- The connection with users. Understand how restaurant teams work, test important assumptions and use feedback to improve the designs.
- The connection with development. Work through technical constraints with developers, explain design decisions and review the implemented result.
- Design leadership. Set clear standards, organise design priorities with the founder, review work and mentor designers and interns as the team develops. Help assess future design hires.
You're probably a fit if you
- Have substantial product design experience, typically five or more years, with examples of software you personally helped take through to release. Strong equivalent experience is welcome.
- Have a strong portfolio showing polished software UI, complete workflows and your personal contribution to each project. A portfolio is required.
- Are confident working in Figma, including auto layout, components, variants and interactive prototypes.
- Can simplify operational interfaces while keeping information readable, controls accessible and important actions easy to find.
- Have worked closely with developers and can explain the decisions, constraints and lessons behind your work, including how user feedback or usability testing changed the designs.
- Have experience guiding other designers through feedback, mentoring or ownership of a shared design direction.
- Can work independently, communicate clearly in English and sustain an agreed commitment under an equity-only arrangement.
Bonus points
- You've designed B2B SaaS, POS, payments, inventory or other operational software.
- You've worked in an early-stage team and helped establish its design approach.
- You understand restaurant operations through your work or direct hospitality experience.
What we offer
- Responsibility for shaping ZOVU's product experience and design standards.
- Direct work with the founder and influence over design decisions and priorities.
- A fully remote working arrangement, with weekly commitment agreed together.
- Equity compensation only. There is no salary; the allocation, vesting schedule, weekly commitment and other terms will be agreed in writing before work starts.
Where we are
The initial priorities are practical: understand the existing designs, identify the most important workflow and consistency issues, improve priority screens and strengthen the reusable components behind them. Scope and timing will reflect the agreed commitment and product priorities.
How to apply
Send your CV or LinkedIn profile and a portfolio covering two relevant product projects to m.vonck@zovuhq.com . Include detailed screens, the workflows they support and your personal contribution. Anonymised examples or a private walkthrough are welcome where work is confidential.
Add a few sentences on each of these:
- Tell us about a software product or workflow you personally designed and helped ship. What did you own, what constraints did you face, and what did you change after feedback from users or usability testing? Please distinguish work that was released from prototypes or concepts.
- Share an example of how you guided another designer or improved consistency across a product.
Include your location, weekly availability, earliest start date and equity expectations. Please make your personal contribution to portfolio projects clear. We value concrete examples and your own words.
