About the Company
We are working with a healthcare and pharmaceutical-focused organization seeking a Healthcare Copywriter who can turn complex clinical data into accurate, compliant, and compelling communications. This role will create content for healthcare professionals (HCPs), payers, and patient audiences across pharmaceutical brands, market access, and health systems.
You will work closely with Art Directors, Copy Editors, and Account Management teams throughout the creative process, from initial concept development through Medical, Legal, and Regulatory (MLR) approval.
Our Culture & Strategy: This role requires a strong balance of creative thinking, scientific accuracy, regulatory awareness, and collaborative communication. The ideal candidate can move comfortably between data-led clinical messaging for healthcare professionals and clear, empathetic language for patients while maintaining compliance with U.S. pharmaceutical promotional standards.
Responsibilities
- Healthcare Copywriting: Concept and write HCP, payer, and patient-facing materials, including detail aids, emails, digital ads, websites, brochures, congress materials, and video scripts.
- Clinical & Scientific Translation: Translate clinical trial data, prescribing information, and scientific literature into clear, accurate, and on-strategy messaging.
- Regulatory Compliance: Write within U.S. regulatory guardrails, integrating fair balance and Important Safety Information (ISI) requirements.
- Claims Substantiation & MLR: Reference and annotate claims to source documents for MLR review and revise copy based on reviewer feedback.
- Creative Collaboration: Partner with Art Directors on creative concepts, headlines, and layouts while presenting and defending copy rationale.
- Audience Adaptation: Adapt messaging between data-led clinical content for healthcare providers and plain-language, empathetic communications for patients.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Art Directors, Copy Editors, and Account Management teams from initial concept through final approval.
Qualifications
- Proven copywriting experience at a healthcare or pharmaceutical advertising agency, or in-house on pharmaceutical brands.
- A portfolio showcasing HCP or patient communications for branded pharmaceutical or healthcare clients.
- Working knowledge of the U.S. pharmaceutical promotional environment, including MLR review processes, fair balance, ISI, and claims substantiation.
- Ability to accurately read and interpret clinical studies, scientific literature, and prescribing information.
- Familiarity with AMA Manual of Style conventions.
- Strong professional written and spoken English skills for client presentations and live collaboration.
- Understanding of how to annotate copy, with every claim requiring substantiation according to brand style.
- Experience using Veeva Vault PromoMats or comparable MLR review platforms is preferred. Training will be provided.
- Experience writing market access or payer materials, such as value propositions and payer decks, is a plus.
