About the role:

It is an exciting time to join Central Bedfordshire’s Housing Service. As a self-contained service, we manage and maintain more than 5,600 Council-owned homes and properties, alongside a growing private sector property management portfolio. The Housing Business team plays a key role in supporting the wider service through the delivery of high-quality business administration and systems management, helping teams provide effective services to residents.

This is a varied and customer-focused role that offers the opportunity to work across all areas of the Housing Service, engaging with colleagues, customers, and partners across the Council. The team provides efficient administrative support to a range of housing functions and is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Housing Service’s core database, which supports over 250 users and is critical to the smooth operation of the service.

We are looking to recruit a Housing Business Officer to provide administrative and business support across the Housing Service. Alongside carrying out a range of generic team responsibilities, you will take ownership of specific areas of work and act as a key point of contact for Housing Officers seeking advice and administrative assistance. As a result, strong organisational skills, the ability to prioritise competing demands, and a commitment to excellent customer service are essential. Good communication skills, attention to detail, and a logical approach to problem-solving will also be key to your success.

A basic understanding of housing legislation and the welfare benefits system would be ideal, you will be educated to Level 4 standard; however, we value relevant skills, experience, and the ability to learn and adapt just as highly as formal qualifications.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy and supportive team, develop new skills, and build your career within housing. We offer a competitive rewards package, flexible working arrangements, and the chance to make a meaningful contribution to the local community. Our aim is to put customers at the heart of everything we do and to deliver services that make a positive difference to residents' lives.
