HR Advisor - £42,000-£45,000 + Bonus & Benefits

Location: Canary Wharf, London
Working pattern: Hybrid - 4 days office / 1 day home
Contract: Permanent

Are you an HR professional looking to take the next step in your career, with greater responsibility, variety and opportunities to develop?

Macmillan Davies is working exclusively with a successful, growing organisation in the construction sector to recruit an HR Advisor into its established and supportive HR team.

This newly created role offers an excellent opportunity for someone with a solid grounding in generalist HR who is ready to broaden their experience, particularly within employee relations.

We're looking for someone who is proactive, hands-on, confident in their approach and genuinely keen to develop their HR career. You don't need to have done everything before, but you should have some practical HR experience and the willingness to take ownership and get involved.

The role

Working as part of the wider HR team, you'll support managers and employees across different areas of the business. Responsibilities will include:

  • Taking ownership of straightforward employee relations matters, including absence management, probation reviews and informal capability cases.
  • Supporting more complex ER cases, investigations and disciplinary processes, including preparing documentation and correspondence.
  • Providing practical HR advice and guidance to line managers.
  • Supporting performance management, employee development and HR training initiatives.
  • Preparing HR reports, analysing employee data and supporting wider HR projects.
  • Assisting with recruitment, onboarding, inductions and other generalist HR activities.
  • Building relationships with managers across the business, including occasional visits to UK offices and sites.

About you

You may currently be working at HR Officer, Junior HR Advisor or HR Advisor level. What's important is that you've gained a good foundation in generalist HR and are ready to build on that experience.

Ideally, you'll have:

  • Practical exposure to employee relations matters and some experience advising or supporting managers.
  • A working knowledge of UK employment law and HR processes.
  • Strong communication, organisational and relationship-building skills.
  • A proactive, flexible approach and the confidence to take initiative.
  • A genuine desire to learn, develop and progress within HR.
  • CIPD Level 3 or above, ideally working towards Level 5.

Construction experience is not essential. Experience in a busy, commercially focused or multi-site environment would be advantageous, but we're equally interested in candidates from other sectors with the right experience and attitude.

What's on offer?

  • £42,000-£45,000 basic salary
  • Discretionary bonus and private medical insurance
  • Company pension and life assurance
  • Support for CIPD qualifications and professional development
  • Enhanced family-friendly policies
  • Employee Assistance Programme and digital GP
  • Additional benefits including gym discounts, cycle-to-work scheme and employee discounts

Based in Canary Wharf, the role offers one day working from home each week, with occasional travel to other UK locations.

Interested?

If you're looking for an opportunity to broaden your HR experience, develop your employee relations skills and progress within a supportive team, we'd love to hear from you.
