About the Role

Looking for challenge and variety in your next HR role? We have a fantastic opportunity to join our team at Huntly Mine on a 6-month fixed-term contract as a HR Coordinator. Working in a diverse and inclusive environment, you’ll support a broad range of HR business initiatives across our WA bauxite locations, including learning and development, labour relations and training requirements.

You will play a pivotal role in driving efficiency across HR policies and processes while supporting key people initiatives; including first level support for our employees and front line leaders at the heart of our operations. Core responsibilities will include:

  • Producing monthly HR analytics and reports to support site management in enhancing people management strategies.
  • Providing guidance to managers and employees on HR legislation, company policies, and supporting the HR Shared Services team with help chain advice.
  • Coordinating internal and external training programs, supporting the HR Consultant in deployment, and promoting best practice learning approaches.
  • Compiling monthly training compliance reports to ensure critical employee capabilities are maintained across all functional groups.
  • Assisting HR Consultants with drafting and updating position descriptions to reflect evolving role requirements.
  • Managing weekly People Movement approvals, ensuring timely follow-up and accurate documentation of employee changes.
  • Facilitating HR communications, focus groups, and feedback sessions to support continuous improvement and employee engagement.
  • Overseeing the development, review, and approval of learning guides and training resources, while maintaining and standardising records in the Learning Management System across mining locations.

What you can bring to the role

  • Bachelor’s degree or other Formal Qualification in HR or related field with some vacation employment, otherwise working knowledge in a similar HR support role.
  • The ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across all areas of the business.
  • A proven commitment to delivering HR outcomes in an accurate and timely manner, with a high level of discretion and confidentiality.
  • An understanding of employment law principles, practices, acts, and regulations in Australia is desirable.
  • Well-developed administrative skills, including strong attention to detail, accuracy, and time-management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, influencing, and coaching skills.

About the Location

Huntly is one of our two bauxite mines in Western Australia. Established in 1976 and located east of North Dandalup in WA, it is the world’s second largest bauxite mine, supplying ore to Alcoa’s Pinjarra alumina refinery. Bauxite ore from Alcoa’s Huntly and Willowdale mines helps to produce almost half of Australia’s alumina and approximately 19 per cent of Australia’s aluminium.
