About Us

PROGRESSO is a growing non-profit organisation working in international youth care. Our multicultural team is dedicated to making a meaningful difference in young people's lives.

Help us build the HR function for the next chapter of our organisation!

As our organisation has grown rapidly, we are looking for an experienced and proactive HR professional who is excited about developing HR structures, bringing fresh ideas to life and helping shape a positive, people-centred workplace.

This is more than an administrative HR role – it's an opportunity to take ownership, create meaningful change and grow alongside our organisation.

Your Role

  • Build & Improve: Develop, implement and optimise HR processes, structures and policies.
  • Recruit & Onboard: Manage recruitment, selection and onboarding to attract and retain the right people.
  • Support & Develop: Advise employees and team leaders on HR matters, performance, professional development and workplace challenges.
  • Manage HR Operations: Oversee contracts, personnel administration, attendance, leave and payroll-related processes.
  • Ensure Compliance: Apply Portuguese employment law and ensure HR practices meet legal and organisational requirements.
  • Shape Our Culture: Work closely with management to strengthen employee engagement, team development and a supportive working environment.

What You Bring

  • At least 5 years of relevant HR experience, ideally in a broad HR Generalist role.
  • Education or professional qualifications in Human Resources, Psychology, Management or a related field are preferred.
  • Good English and Portuguese communication skills, both written and spoken, are essential.
  • Solid knowledge of Portuguese employment law and HR administration.
  • Strong organisational skills, confidence with digital tools and a structured, independent working style.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills.
  • A hands-on mentality, creativity and the confidence to take initiative and turn ideas into action.

Above all, we value someone who enjoys working with people, takes ownership and sees opportunities where others see challenges.

What We Offer

  • Work with a purpose: Contribute to an organisation making a real difference in young people's lives.
  • Work-life balance: A hybrid working model, including 3 days on-site in Almodôvar and 2 days remote work.
  • Competitive package: €2,500 gross monthly base salary plus meal card.
  • Equipment provided: Macbook and I-Phone
  • Room to create: Genuine freedom to build HR structures, contribute ideas and influence organisational growth.
  • Personal & professional growth: Opportunities for continuous learning, training and personal development.
  • People-first culture: A welcoming, family-like atmosphere, international colleagues and close collaboration with management.
