About the Business

Sirius Energy have partnered with a premier renewable energy developer and asset owner delivering utility-scale wind, solar, and battery energy storage (BESS) projects across Australia. Backed by a leading global parent company, the organisation maintains complete end-to-end capabilities spanning development, construction, and long-term asset operations. Defined by an inclusive culture, exceptional staff retention, and a commitment to sustainability excellence, the business continues to advance high-impact clean energy infrastructure committed to world-class safety and environmental standards.

Role Overview

Based out of Sydney on a hybrid arrangement (3 days per week in the office) with periodic site travel, this permanent role supports the safe and compliant delivery of a diverse utility-scale project portfolio. Reporting directly to the Safety Manager, the HSE Advisor will be actively involved in both office-based strategy and site-based monitoring across wind, solar, and storage assets. The position is responsible for embedding health, safety, and environmental standards across development, delivery, and operational phases while driving contractor compliance and a proactive safety culture.

Key Accountabilities

  • HSE Systems & Advisory: Support the implementation and continuous improvement of the corporate HSE management system, providing pragmatic day-to-day guidance to delivery, engineering, and asset management teams.
  • Site Monitoring & Contractor Compliance: Conduct structured site inspections, field observations, and audits across development, construction, and operational assets, ensuring contractor adherence to safety management plans, statutory legislation, and codes of practice.
  • Risk Management & SWMS Reviews: Assist in hazard identification, risk assessments, and the review of Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), ensuring risk controls are effectively implemented and risk registers remain up to date.
  • Incident Investigation & Reporting: Facilitate timely incident and near-miss reporting, lead investigations using ICAM methodologies, determine root causes, and track corrective actions through to completion.
  • Governance & Global Reporting: Maintain accurate HSE records, facilitate metrics reporting to local executive leadership and the global parent entity, and assist with regulatory inspections and audits.
  • Training & Safety Culture: Deliver project inductions, toolbox talks, and awareness initiatives that elevate safety capability and engagement across internal teams and external contractors.

Skills and Experience

  • Minimum Certificate IV or Diploma in Work Health & Safety (relevant environmental qualifications highly regarded).
  • 3–7+ years of dedicated HSE experience within construction, major infrastructure, or renewable energy projects (wind, solar, or BESS experience strongly preferred).
  • Formal ICAM (Incident Cause Analysis Method) investigation training or equivalent.
  • Strong working knowledge of Australian WHS legislation, statutory regulations, and industry codes of practice.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting site-based inspections, contractor audits, and risk reviews across active project environments.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and reporting skills, with the ability to influence positive safety behaviours across both site and corporate settings.
  • Valid Australian Driver’s Licence and General Construction Induction (White Card).
