Are you a senior lawyer (+10 years’ experience) passionate about ice cream innovation, marketing and commercial frontline negotiations, in a constant evolving world, and would like to be part of a multi-cultural European legal team, for the leading ice cream business in the world? Then this role is tailored for you.

What You'll Be Responsible For

The Iberia General Counsel will have a rich and engaging role, business partnering the Portugal and Iberia General Manager and leadership team, and overseeing the legal activities across Portugal and Spain with the Spain General Counsel reporting to him/her, and will be responsible for:

• Ensuring compliance of all operations in Iberia (Portugal and Spain) (Competition Law, Business Integrity, Employment, Data Privacy, Anti-Bribery, Governance, Corporate Secretary) through effective business partnering to the Iberia Leadership Team and the wider Portugal and Spain organization (Marketing, Sales, Procurement, HR, Supply Chain, R&D and Finance). Collaboration across the European Legal team as well as the Legal Corporate Centre (for IP, Corporate, M&A, Employment, Business Integrity and Data Protection teams).
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple outside counsel relationships simultaneously
• Proven track record of proactively identifying legal risks that were not assigned
• Comfort working across multiple international jurisdictions and coordinating cross border legal work
• Actively contribute to top management decision-making and strategic planning to align legal strategy with short- and long-term business objectives
• Bring your contribution in leading and supporting strategic initiatives at Regional and Global level, with impact within and beyond the Legal Department
• Partnering the Portugal and Spain Leadership Team while supporting legal activities across both countries, support transformational projects arisen around the development of Magnum Ice Cream Company, manage the Legal Department budget.
• Compliance and roll out of global legal corporate policies
• Advising on key legal risks and providing a strategy and plan including resourcing as to how this would be mitigated and managed;
• Advising on sales and route to market topics and projects / alternative business models, including Business2Business or Customer Development models;
• Advising on all legal aspects, including contracts assessments with suppliers, distributors, logistics, Factory maintenance and contractors;
• Advising on new product development projects, including the legality of and support for claims, product positioning, and input into preparation of communication materials.
• Any Magnum ICC related litigation;
• External legal issues such as Competition/ Commercial, Corporate, Marketing, regulatory, and Advertising Environmental/sustainability, related and where relevant.
• Managing legal risks & reputation for operations in Iberia by supervising any major crisis and/or litigations in relationship with Authorities (Competition, Consumer, Environmental, Data Protection Authorities amongst others) and Competitors and implementing policies and compliance program in Iberia.
• Supporting the Sales Department in managing supplier/distributor relations by negotiating, analyzing, and drafting the various contractual agreements (single agreement, GTC/GTS, international agreements) whether for In-Home Retail Clients, European Alliances, Wholesalers & chains (Foodservices & OOH), Direct to Consumer & E-commerce.
• Providing legal support for the Customer Service, Logistics, Finance teams on all contracts and operations related to their activities in the cluster (Payment terms, electronic invoicing, invoicing, issue related to the transport of goods, negotiation of General Terms and Conditions of Purchase and penalties).
  
  

This role is based in Lisbon, Portugal, operating across both Portugal and Spain. This is a hybrid position, with an expectation to be present in the Lisbon office at least 3 times per week, as well as regular travel to Spain.

EXPERIENCES & QUALIFICATIONS: senior lawyer (+10 years’ experience/PQE), experienced in corporate law, commercial & sales contracts, legal marketing activities, employment, competition law, factory support, issues management.

Candidates must be fluent in Portuguese, Spanish and English. Strong written and verbal communication skills in all three languages are required, as the role supports stakeholders across Portugal, Spain and the wider international business.
