Help us evolve the technical foundation for digital manufacturing at VELUX. As IIoT Platform Technical Lead, you will lead the technical direction of our shared IIoT platform while taking part in engineering. You will enable development teams to build manufacturing applications through reliable connectivity, standardised shop floor data and reusable platform services.
Meet your future team
You will join the Industrial IoT Platform Team, part of IT & Digital Enablement. The team develops and maintains the shared IIoT platform that supports manufacturing applications through connectivity, data and reusable technical capabilities.
As IIoT Platform Technical Lead, you will provide day-to-day technical leadership across the engineering group. Working closely with senior IIoT platform engineers, architects, vendors and manufacturing stakeholders, you will coordinate decisions, coach engineers and help move delivery forward. The role has no formal people-management responsibility.
What we offer
This role combines contributing to the shared IIoT platform’s technical direction with direct engineering work. You will lead day-to-day technical direction and engineering execution, contributing to design, development, testing, reviews and complex problem-solving. You will turn product priorities into a coherent platform roadmap, engineering practices and clear guardrails.
You will balance a clear technical direction with close collaboration, involving the team in technical decisions and finding practical compromises that support both platform integrity and delivery needs.
The goal in this role means a clear and maintained platform roadmap, faster onboarding and greater reuse, improved visibility of platform health, and well-defined ownership between shared platform capabilities and domain-specific application logic.
More specifically your tasks will be to:
- Own and maintain the IIoT platform technical roadmap, including runtime, frameworks, connectivity components, data contracts, developer tooling, observability and lifecycle enablers. Provide estimates, sequencing, dependency and risk input and coordinate with dependent product teams.
- Coordinate technical planning, reviews and coaching across the platform engineering group, aligning key design decisions with senior IIoT platform engineers. Act as the first technical escalation point. Guide external engineering contributions so standards, knowledge and lifecycle accountability remain within the team. Escalate material architecture and cross-platform decisions through the appropriate technical governance.
- Establish and evolve engineering guardrails, reference patterns and clear development paths. Maintain the boundary between shared platform mechanisms and domain-specific application logic. Own technical data-quality controls at the platform boundary.
- Contribute hands-on to platform services and reusable components through design, development, testing and improvement. Focus your direct contribution where technical depth, complex problem-solving or delivery needs require it.
- Support platform observability, technical investigations and follow-through on incidents, problems and improvement actions in collaboration with the Operations Manager.
- Manage platform lifecycle health, including security, patching, vulnerability remediation, upgrades, documentation, supportability, and technical debt.
The role can be based in Skjern, Østbirk, Kolding or Hørsholm. Regular on-site presence in Skjern and at manufacturing locations in Denmark is required, along with occasional international travel. When tasks and projects allow, you may work from home up to two days per week.
What you will bring into the organization
You bring 7+ years of relevant experience in software, platform or integration engineering, including technical leadership in an industrial IT/OT or digital manufacturing environment. You understand both manufacturing-domain needs and Unified Namespace. You use that understanding to make technical choices that work for platform users and the engineering team.
Moreover, we expect that you:
- Have direct experience building C#/.NET services and APIs. Your experience also includes event-driven or decoupled architectures, Unified Namespace, containerised deployment and modern DevOps practices.
- Bring practical knowledge across industrial connectivity and edge technologies, including MQTT, edge runtimes and container orchestration. You also understand industrial data contracts, observability or SRE practices, and OT cyber security.
- Can translate product priorities into an actionable platform roadmap, technical guardrails and engineering practices.
- Can make practical technical design decisions while involving engineers and relevant stakeholders in finding workable solutions.
- Use effective coaching, facilitation, collaboration and communication skills across engineers, product roles, architects, vendors and manufacturing stakeholders.
- Apply a platform mindset focused on reuse, self-service, consumer enablement, operational excellence and long-term maintainability.
