Image Description Entry Assistant

Office Administration / Image Descriptions

Remote • Full-time or part-time
27.00–28.50 per hour

Part-time or full-time hours are possible. A home office or focused computer workspace is useful for image comparisons; the hiring company will confirm equipment and access.

Website images sometimes need a short text description in the content system. The Image Description Entry Assistant adds descriptions that have been supplied or approved by the content owner, checks that they appear in the correct field, and flags images without clear guidance. This remote role supports online content and accessibility work at an introductory level. You will not independently certify a site as accessible or write descriptions for specialized medical, legal, or technical imagery without review.

Match the image and purpose

A photograph used as decoration may be handled differently from an image that communicates an important step. Follow the employer's provided rules. If the approved description names a person or product that does not appear in the current image, stop and ask rather than inserting it anyway. If a page uses the same image in two contexts, do not assume the same text fits both. Check the actual page and instruction before saving.

You may use a web-based content editor and a simple tracker of completed items. Open the published or previewed page after a permitted update to confirm you edited the right image. If a content owner has not provided enough direction, leave the item pending with a specific question. This is office administration that helps a customer service organization present clear online information to its audience. Accurate handoffs and restrained editing matter more than fast entry.

Two visually similar images may serve different purposes on a website. Compare the assigned image, page context and approved description before entering text into the correct field. If a description is missing or clearly conflicts with the image, return it to the content owner rather than guessing what it should say. After saving, preview the page where permitted and check that the field did not truncate the wording. This supports the website team's accessibility process; the assistant enters and checks authorised copy while the content owner approves what the image is meant to convey.

The work

  • Review an assigned list of website images and approved text.
  • Match each image to its page and content field.
  • Enter a supplied description within your editing permissions.
  • Check the result in the page preview or published view.
  • Flag missing, outdated, or conflicting image guidance.
  • Record completion and any item awaiting editorial review.
  • Avoid changing surrounding copy or design without approval.

Customer service or office administration experience can help you think about the reader and maintain a reliable tracker, but it is not required. The employer will teach its content system and review process. You should be comfortable with online pages, careful matching, and accepting editorial feedback. Prior accessibility certification is not expected for this assistant position.

An image may be replaced after a description was written. Compare the current picture with the supplied text before entering it. If the image conveys a chart or a multi-step diagram, the short field may not be enough; flag it for the content owner instead of attempting a technical summary. Avoid inserting a file name or a generic phrase such as “picture” simply to fill a blank field. The employer's guide will explain when a decorative image should have an empty description.

Your tracker should identify the page, image, approved wording, and status. When an editor changes the crop or placement, recheck that the description still fits. This is a controlled content update, so you should not change the page's headline, layout, or surrounding sales copy while working on an image field.

A content owner may revise the description after seeing it on the page. Apply the approved correction and check the final display again. A version history or change note should show what was entered so the next editor does not reintroduce obsolete wording.

The company may request a further application on its website from candidates it selects to continue. You can draw from personal, school, or volunteer projects. Expertise in web design is not necessary. Applicants moving to the next step may be asked to use the hiring company’s online application. The content owner will describe its image review process to those who continue.
