Want to help shape how customer data works across a global bank?

At ING, customer data connects customers, products and services across countries and business lines. Getting that foundation right is critical to creating great digital experiences, meeting regulatory expectations and enabling secure, efficient banking. It is the DNA of the digital operating model of the bank.

That is where Global Customer Domain (GCD) comes in. We design and deliver ING’s global customer data capabilities and enable customer data to be used consistently across the bank.

The Center of Expertise Customer Data Design defines the architecture and models behind these capabilities. We work at the intersection of business, data and technology, setting direction while working closely with countries and delivery teams to turn complex customer data challenges into clear, scalable designs.

Your role & work environment
The Information Modeler - Analyst is responsible for all data related aspects of developments that require new or changed data. This includes working as a contributing member of multiple concurrent projects, working with business/enterprise architects in understanding architectural directions, gathering and analyzing business data requirements, data modelling and designing data structures that align with architecture goals. You will work together with product managers, customer journey experts and engineers of the Tribe to develop business capabilities for a perfect customer experience.

Responsibilities are:

  • Modelling new features in conceptual and logical model.
  • Assist and advice in mappings from country models to the global harmonized model.
  • Consult ING domains on usage of the model and data concepts.
  • Define and maintain business definitions, taxonomy, controlled vocabularies and reference data.
  • Contribute to development of capabilities and services (API’s, notifications) from the model viewpoint.
  • Ensuring compliance with data related policies, standards, roles and responsibilities.
  • Create and maintain high quality data documentation that allows the data to be understood and used for additional purposes.

We hire smart people like you for their potential. Our biggest expectation is that you remain curious. Keep learning. Take on responsibility. In return, we will support you in developing into an even better version of yourself.

  • Hold a master’s degree in information science or an equivalent qualification.
  • Bring at least five years of relevant professional experience in business information analysis, semantic modeling, data modeling, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrate strong business orientation and analytical ability, translating business concepts into data designs and vice versa.
  • Understand entity-relationship data modeling and interpret and explain logical and conceptual models in natural language.
  • Build strong working relationships and demonstrate a strong customer-service orientation.
  • Apply good general knowledge of the banking industry, its processes, and its products.
  • Communicate fluently in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Work proactively and collaboratively as a team player with strong communication and documentation skills.
  • Feel at ease in a cross-border culture, listen to others, and invest in shared goals.
  • Ideally, bring experience with business-process redesign, data management, data-modeling techniques, architecture, comparable industry models, enterprise-wide information or data models, and associated governance processes.
