Inpatient Medical Coder - Work from home

JOB SUMMARY Responsible for accurately assigning ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes to inpatient records in compliance with official coding guidelines and AHIMAs Standards of Ethical Coding. Abstracts key clinical information and ensures coding accuracy and completeness. Requirements : With active CPC, CCS, CIC 2-3 years of experience with inpatient medical coding. Handled simple to complex cases, high dollar account. Strong knowledge with CPT, ICD10, HCPCS. EMR/EHR (Epic, Cerner, Meditech, 3M encoder) ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Reviews medical records to assign accurate diagnostic and procedural codes. Ensures proper abstracting of required data, including discharge disposition. Maintains at least 95.5% coding accuracy for diagnoses and procedures. Prepares compliant retrospective physician queries as needed. Stays updated with AHA, CMS, and other regulatory coding guidelines. Resolves held accounts and communicates documentation issues to leadership. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Strong knowledge of MS-DRG and APR-DRG systems. Skilled in AHIMA-compliant query writing. Proficient in EMR, encoder, and CDI tools. Works effectively with CDI, Quality, and facility leadership teams. Detail-oriented with strong analytical and documentation skills.
