About the Role The Insurance Sales Advisor is responsible for generating new business and providing expert advice to individuals seeking insurance and financial protection solutions through high volume phone calls. This role is focused on direct-to-consumer sales, working with individuals rather than group or corporate clients. Through a curious and consultative sales approach, the Advisor assesses client needs, recommends suitable insurance products, and builds long-term client relationships that support retention, referrals, and business growth. The Insurance Sales Advisor serves as a trusted advisor, helping clients make informed decisions regarding life, health, disability, critical illness, travel, and related insurance products while ensuring compliance with regulatory and licensing requirements. This is a hybrid role based out of the Calgary office. What to Expect in Your First 3 to 6 Months Within 3 Months: Complete onboarding, licensing, carrier certification, and sales training Develop an understanding of TenoEight's products, services, and sales model Establish a consistent prospecting rhythm Develop a pipeline with sufficient qualified opportunities to support future sales targets Demonstrate proficiency in using CRM and sales tracking tools Achieve proficiency across all individual insurance product lines Demonstrate understanding of underwriting requirements, carrier processes, and compliance obligations Consistently conduct effective discovery meetings and needs assessments Deliver professional client presentations and recommendations Convert early opportunities into written business Establish credibility and confidence through successful placements Build productive working relationships with service, underwriting, carrier, and administration teams Demonstrate company values and collaborative behaviors Within 6 Months: Consistently meet or exceed monthly production expectations Demonstrate ability to develop a predictable pipeline capable of supporting future revenue targets Generate increasing levels of referral business Build trusted advisor relationships with clients Maintain high service standards and client satisfaction Become a recognized resource on individual insurance solutions Confidently recommend a specific range of protection strategies Share best practices and market intelligence Support team initiatives and sales campaigns Demonstrate ongoing activity levels consistent with high-performing advisors Maintain excellent compliance and documentation standards What You'll Do Sales & Business Development Generate new sales opportunities through high volume inbound inquiries, referrals, prospecting activities, and lead follow-up (100-300+ daily calls) Conduct thorough client needs assessments to identify insurance and financial protection requirements Recommend appropriate individual insurance solutions based on clients' personal, family, and financial circumstances Prepare and present insurance proposals and product illustrations Consistently achieve or exceed individual sales targets and performance metrics Develop and execute personal business development plans to grow market presence and client acquisition Maintain a strong pipeline of prospective clients and actively manage opportunities through the sales cycle Client Relationship Management Build and maintain strong relationships with clients through exceptional service and ongoing communication Conduct annual reviews to ensure coverage remains aligned with clients' evolving needs Identify opportunities for cross-selling and additional protection solutions Resolve client concerns promptly and professionally Generate referrals and build long-term relationships that contribute to client retention and business growth Product Knowledge & Advisory Services Maintain expert knowledge of individual insurance products, underwriting requirements, and industry trends Educate clients on policy features, benefits, exclusions, and pricing considerations Stay informed about changes in legislation, taxation, and insurance regulations impacting clients Administration & Compliance Maintain accurate client records and documentation within CRM and other systems Ensure all sales activities comply with applicable insurance regulations, privacy requirements, and company policies Complete required licensing, continuing education, and regulatory training requirements Follow established procedures for documentation, disclosures, and suitability assessments Submit applications and supporting documentation accurately and within established timelines Collaboration Partner with underwriting, client service, and administrative teams to deliver a seamless client experience Participate in sales meetings, training programs, and professional development initiatives Share market intelligence, client feedback, and competitive insights with leadership Other duties as assigned What We're Looking For Post secondary education in Business, Finance, Sales, or a related field preferred Current LLQP (Life License Qualification Program) certification Active provincial life insurance license in good standing Additional insurance or financial services designations considered an asset 2+ years of sales experience, preferably within insurance, financial services, benefits, or similar advisory environments (software sales, door to door sales, etc.) Experience handling high volume telephone calls an asset Demonstrated success meeting or exceeding sales targets Experience using CRM systems and sales pipeline management tools Experience conducting consultative sales conversations and needs assessments Experience and comfort performing a high volume of daily sales calls (inbound leads and cold calls) Critical Competencies You will succeed in this role if you are: Compensation At the time of this posting, the estimated annual base salary for this position is $70,000-$80,000, plus variable, uncapped commission. Individual compensation within this range is determined by factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, and education/training. This range reflects the annual base salary only and does not encompass the comprehensive total rewards package that TenoEight proudly offers.
